It is beautiful Livannie!!! It looks great on you and what an amazimg coincidence! Congrats!!!
Thank you! I love it and feel so lucky Neil decided to sell it to me.

Here is my 4 ct star sapphire and diamond ring from the Victorian era. It is set in 18k and probably WG. I really like it and it was $300! I thought that was a great price and I love the ring. It has a killer star but I need full sun to show it.

I love your new ring so much! What a beautiful star sapphire. And where did you find it? That's a great bargain! :)

What a cool new ring ilovegemstones. The star on that is awesome and what a great deal!

Back in December I purchased this 18k white gold Ruby and Diamond ring. I absolutely love it, but go back and forth about whether or not yellow gold would be better for my skin tone. I hate being so picky and indecisive. I think this one is a keeper though.

Beautiful rings, Ilovegemstones and elliot86!
I just picked up a little emerald for myself. It does not rival the gorgeous stones some of the other pricescopers have shared, but it's my favorite color emerald (though not the "preferred" color) and it fit my budget. It's a Colombian just over 5cts, 10mm x 9mm x 7mm and I love the glow! It's certainly not water clear, but the inclusions are not distracting and seem to add to the glowiness. Now to figure out what to do with it... I'm thinking maybe a wg ring with some lovely mahenge side stones perhaps.

Keeliamira: That's stunning. It's actually my favorite color for emeralds too. What a piece. I love the idea of setting it with mahenge side stones!

Thanks livannie, deco, lilmosum, mochiko, keeliamiraand elle!! Glad you think it is a bargain too! it was from a vintage/antique jewelry seller on Etsy. It has inclusions, a tiny pit on the surface, and the seller did not like that the bottom was uneven and rough but I know this to be often the case with star sapphires! It was a size 9 before. I really wonder who it belonged to!

I love your large, gorgeous emerald keeliamira and think ot would look great with mahenges! or paraibas!

Thanks Elle and ilovegemstones!

What a great idea Chroman; I love the contrast! I've been looking at possibilities all evening...would a halo be too much? Yvonne only has 3 and 3.5mm melee...is that an awkward size with the emerald (10x9)?

And what do you think about hauynite with it?

My Mom is not doing too great. To cheer her up I send her pictures of stones. In my searching I found a ring that is almost identical to my Great Aunt's wedding ring that was stolen years ago. So I called my Mom and she started to cry because it was do similar. So I just bought it for her! I told her and she started to happy cry even more. I can't wait to get it sized for her.

Ceaho that one is a beauty!

Such gorgeous sapphires, rubies and emeralds on this thread!
Vesper- I love, love, love the star ruby ring you bought for your mom. The perfect vibrant pink color of the gemstone coupled with stunning vintage setting makes this ring stand out. So beautiful.

That makes me feel better! I know a good deal about star sapphires but not star rubies. I was talking a leap of faith. It should be here Monday or Tuesday and I will have more pictures.

It came! The color keeps changing from a pink to a deep plum. I am happy with the star. I also did not know it has millgrain. Mom is going to flip. It is so her.

Vesper, it's so beautiful. Can't wait to hear about your mom's reaction.

Caysie has set my Barry tourmaline!!

Caysie's photos:

My photo in crappy office lighting (sadly I can't capture the true color of the tourmaline very well, it goes dark brown on camera even though it's mostly a warm plum/marsala/cognac color under the awful CFL lights at work.)

I went to have it have the ring sized today. I might have accidentally posted a synthetic star ruby (whoops.) One gemologist said it looked real, one said it looked too good to be real and might be an unmarked Lindy stone. So it is being sent off for testing. Mom still loves it so I am happy.

@mochiko42 the color is lovely! Do you know the origin of the tourmaline?

Mochiko42, I love both the stone and the setting. I've never seen an 8-prong setting. Who is Caysie?

Oh, that's too bad that it might be synthetic ruby. Are the diamonds real? It is still a beautiful ring and I'm glad your mother still loves it - that's the important thing! :)

It's a 3.62ct, 9.7mm tourmaline from Mozambique.
Here are a few photos of it when it was not yet set

@mochiko42 the diamonds are real! The Ruby is 50/50 at this point. As you said as long as Mom likes it I could not care less.

That stone is ridiculous.tbe setting really is perfect as well. I love claw prongs.

Yesterday I received a package from Caysie, today I received a package from Yvonne. Soon I will be on a ban, lol, but not today!!

Emerald and tanzanite
Purple garnet and color change garnet
