This is the setting. I''m still trying to pin down a few details on it though. The setting will be remade in 18K white. I asked for the V prongs and I''ve never had them do milgrain before, should I wait and do that here or are they pretty good at it?

-A
I like their millgrain and it''s cheap to do it through them. It may cost you a lot more through a jeweler. Looking forward to seeing your new sapphire and the ring!
Thanks. I''lve sent them a message about it so I''ll see what i get back.

ugh i''m in Maymester hell, so I thought I would occupy myself by showing you guys the little something that my mommy bought me yesterday! It''s a chrysoprase ring from Paloma Picasso''s sugar stacks collection. I just love it. Even in dim lighting it seems to suck up all the daylight and just glows.

Gorgeous RFT!

Thanks ladies!

I have a light green grossular garnet (note how I"m avoiding the word mint!) coming to me this week from Roger Dery. Hopefully I''ll like it for my antique setting!

Hi Red! this is the same setting for my Rubellite, but I customize it to fit my elongated cushion, did you retain the original airline around the centre stone or did you close it. I chose to close mine.:) Congrats, I think you will like it, Jackson is real nice to work with;) It is looking good!

New sapphire ring. I'm not totally happy with it though. I'm going to have the it removed and recut. BTW, the ring is pretty big as well.

That is a nice blue, the ring has this ''masculine'' feel to it:) Can I know why do you wanna recut it?

Ditto, inquiring minds want to know. What''s wrong with the cut??? No window, and it looks really nice in there. If you cut it, you might lose saturation.

There''s a small window which to me is still pretty evident at certain angles even in the setting. I''ve got to catch a flight early tomorrow but will try to post up a few angle pics when I get to my destination. I think a recut may help the stone pop more and maybe close the small window I keep seeing. The stone is 2.20, so not terribly small. I do worry about the color but hopefully whomever I pick give me an unbiased opinion on it.

I do like the setting. No, its not delicate which is fine...I have enough delicate settings...lol. I did want something different and it delivered. could be that the stone is jsut the wrong choice for the setting though.

Here''s the ring in direct sunlight. Its really a great color but check the middle
7.gif

In indirect light you don''t see the big hole in the middle of the stone at all.

I''m trying to decide if I should just live with it being the stone and setting didn''t cost that much or send that stone out for a recut.

I sure do feel some kinda way about it though.

Very pretty!

who cut it?

-A

Thanks Arcadian! It''s from Barry, 3.05cts, 9.2mm. I posted a collage in the vendor photo thread, if you want to see more pics.

Love your sapphire btw, and while I do notice a darker area in the center, I''m not really seeing anything I''d call a window. Gorgeous color though!
