Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Yep, that's the one! The blue-greeny one. Well shoot, that's too bad..maybe another PSer will get it and we can live vicariously thru them!

I know somebody who would totally be willing to take that round chryso off your hands if you'd like to work on other projects. ;)) :lickout:

Ha Ha, I'm not quite ready to part with the chryso, packrat! Thank you for that selfless offer  ;))

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

BN - without being a cow and rubbing it in, I have to admit I'm surprised you sent Gary's afghan back (but I hear ya loud and clear on wanting to set things); has it already gone to another PS'er..?
I really love your BB peachy tourm and also your setting idea for it - so pretty! And that cements it, I must have an emerald cut from Barry [/quote]

Gary received the tourm back today. I don't know if any other PSer got it.

Your new stones look amazing! Looking forward to your pics!

May I ask how the diamond ring project is going with the jeweler who set klewis's stone? Their name slips my mind (RGD)?

I don't visit this thread very often because sometimes it's just all talk, but wow, AJ, you've been smokin' hot with the gems lately! Babynurse, you've been pretty active too - LOVE the pink/peach BB tourm! I'm envisioning a 3-stone ring with cadi cuts....mmmmm! Or, a halo's good too, lol.

Thanks cellentani. Not sure when this ring will get done but it's nice to think about ;))

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Well, what can I say BN, I'm a giver. :praise:

Hey BN - thank you, I have Jeff's awesome glamour shot now, see below..I'm in luurve

Of course you may ask, and yup that's right its RDG. It's been going awesome, really really well. So far they have exceeded my expectations in every single way - and I'm super happy as I get along with Mike Robinson really well, so I know I have found a jeweller for life now. ::)
Mike is making headway on my ring this week - there are one or two small details to finalize along the way, and it should be completed
in around another week or so (lead time was 2 weeks). He said he has been taking plenty of photos for me of the hand creation process, which I am looking forward to seeing and also posting up when its complete (if folks are interested). I find seeing the stages of the piece come to life very intriguing - so different to the CAD/cast process.

Ok, that was a long rambling answer, lol sorry
here's the eyecandy to make up for it

NOT a long rambling answer at all! I love hearing about the details! How exciting that they're taking pictures along the way. Please do post them :appl: I took a look at their website and was very impressed.

Wow  Great stone by Jeff!! And what are your plans for it?

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Hey, nice avatar AJ ;))

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

I received this 3.97 ct Goshenite beryl cut by Cindi Stair in the mail today. It looks awesome in person. I'm going to have it set as a pendant solitaire. At nearly 11 mm in diameter, it is a great size for a substantial clear, round, sparkly pendant.

My ring stone is 0.63 ct for comparison. I'm wearing a red shirt and the color seems to concentrate in the center of the stone. I've also posted the vendor photo.

Hey AJ, it's a very nice looking stone - congratulations and I hope RDG get their hands on this one too. :naughty:

Hey BN,
If you enjoyed RDG's site, please do check out their FB page: **Link removed by moderator. We do not allow linking to social networking sites to protect privacy**
It has a lot more detail, and you can follow the progress of a project from watercolour to completion..so many of their pieces on there are swoon-worthy !
Thank you re. the JW tourm..I am leaning toward a 3 stone, and with any luck I will also have RDG set this one.
Mike has already made some cool suggestions, but I'm reserving judgement until I see the stone in person, sorry ;))
I will start a thread once its here though, shouldn't be too long - I hope!

I'd be happy to post up the 'in progress' pics once my OEC ring is complete - actually, I've popped a new one over in SMTB in the 'unique photos' thread, if you'd like to check it out. (oh and thanks on the av) ::)

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Hey flygirl, nice goshenite! I've been on the lookout for one myself - I'm interested in comparing to other stones like white topaz. Goshenite always seems to have more flash to me, but that's just based on pics I've seen. What kind of pendant are you thinking of doing? Dangle, floating (sans bale), etc?

Thanks, cellentani. Yes, I have been looking for a goshenite for a while. What gave me the push was my SIL was wearing a goshenite pendant set in sterling that I gave her a while back, saying that it went with everything.

I had been thinking of an accent stone, but now that I have the goshenite in hand, I'm thinking a solitaire would be best. I am going to go through the Stuller catalog for ideas. My primary concern is a setting that doesn't flip. Otherwise, I'm not real picky. I like having the stone be the star.

That's a beautiful Goshenite, Fly Girl! I had been eyeing that one, as well. It will make a beautiful pendant. It's nice to have some neutral pieces (I don't have any yet ;)) ) that will match with everything.

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

I have a neutral pendant on the way soon hopefully...and a not so neutral pendant.

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Oooo, i'm so jealous AJ!!

I've been on limited gem funds, but I indulged in a cheap ebay thrill, a small .88ct light grossular garnet. I really want to make a side set pear bezel ring, and this pear looked nice enough and certainly light enough to bezel. And I love garnets!

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Very pretty stone, MTG! I like the idea of having it set sideways. I can't remember who recently had their pear aqua cab set like that but it was really nice.

Or maybe this? This is a pic that was posted by a member who doesn't post here now - I can't remember his name.

Wohoo! AJJ, I was wondering about your new avatar and finally found the explanation here. Congrats and I can't wait to see your pictures of it.

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

I think that was shaunrice, klewis...I was looking at a few designs I was trying to put together for him earlier today. He seemed to like to name his stones...

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

Ah yes that was his name, thanks Freke.

Hey C :wavey: cheers I'm glad you like it, I'm super excited to receive it. You have a tsav cushion from Swala right? Not sure if you saw on prior page but I also have one of those coming -been on a bit of a blue and green kick ;)

MTG thanks! The colour on that pear is really pretty, and I like both a sideways bezel and the setting Klewis posted for it

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

I am dying for a side set pear. I vote for that!!

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

This is the moonstone that I got from Barry a couple of weeks ago. It's 10.5mm.

Oh BN, that moonstone is gorgeous! The blue is quite strong and the tone just right. It looks decently clean too.

Re: Catch all thread - talk or better yet show us

I thought of you when I posted this, Chrono, because I remember that you had admired this stone. Thank you! It is really beautiful. It does have a couple of inclusions but they're hardly noticeable.

I'm not entirely sure what I'll do with it. Where it's a softer stone, I'll probably have it set in a pendant, but I do own a couple of pearl rings and they're in great condition despite having been worn a fair amount. So it may go into a ring, but there are several projects ahead of it.... What I really need to do is stop buying stones and focus on setting the ones I have ;))

Don't worry about that; just send it my way and I'll set and wear it for you. :naughty:

Ha Ha-- that's a good one! Maybe you could send over that spess ring and we could call it even :D :o
