I went with Sally (HeartofWaterJewels) to do my grandma's spinel bracelet. She is a gem (pun intended) to work with! I am so excited!

She describes it so beautifully

Your bracelet will feature a panel measuring approximately 2.75 inches long by 1 inch wide, with chain attached at each corner. The chain will join in a center-back closure, forming an elongated "x" shape that will mirror the wing shape of the dragonflies that will rest on the front panel. Between them will sit your Spinel, in a milgrained 14k rose gold bezel. Your sapphires will be used in the dragonfly bodies, heads, and also at each outer edge of the panel. The remaining areas of the panel will be handcarved with our Mahawan motif of lyrical vines and leaves. Apart from the centerstone, rose gold will be used in parts of the body, in the outer sapphires, and in the silhouette and lacy filigree of the wings.

Hey david,

I saw your custom listing description, it sound gorgeous! I don't think you'll be at all disappointed.

My stones finally all got to her, so I'm going to be starting some things as well. It'll probably take until summer to get the all done, good thing I'm patient! I"m having her reset my star sapphire, set my tsavorite, and my welo opal, and then some other odds and ends.

MTG, are you doing the same setting for your star, or something different?

We're still in talks about my three stone, but I think we've got it figured out. I sent her a convo and told her to please not decide her lifelong dream is cake decorating and not jewelry b/c I've got a bunch of stuff lined up.

Packrat, that was hilarious! She's been a real pleasure to work with so far. I hope she doesn't go into cake decorating! It would cost way too much to have one of her cakes shipped to the east coast

We haven't settled on a design yet, I think I'll let her guide me on this one since I very much trust her sense of design and we've worked together enough that she knows my taste in things.

Haha, every time I look in my jewelery box, a bigger and bigger percentage is from Sally!

Small purchase to see if they'll make a good match as sidestones for my tsavorite.

Purplish pink body colour which should go well with my slighly bluish tsav.

Too sparkly to capture the colour well, and please ignore the grime on one of the spinels from my handling.

I plunked down a deposit yesterday to get a first viewing at local Minneapolis designer T Lee's next gemstone viewing. T leaves on a rough buying trip to Tanzania in January, and her rough will then be cut by two of her favorite cutters, Richard Homer and Roger Dery. Thirty of us "investors" will get first dibs at the finished stones in May, 2011. If we don't choose a stone, we get our deposit back.

My wish list for T was "anything in the red family". I spoke to her on the phone, and she is like a little kid, so excited. I wanted to invest just for the experience, if nothing else. It will definitely be worth it. In the meantime, I must start saving up more pennies in case the perfect stone appears in May.

Wow, that tanzie looks identical to my sapphire. It's probably caught up in customs. I know someone who took ten weeks to get her stone, but it finally came. Let's hope it doesn't take that long for you too.

Davi, I've a couple ideas. There's a real simple Singlestone prong setting I like, otherwise I just found this really cool bezel setting yesterday. I sent Sally a convo to ask about tweaking it a little. I showed the picture to my husband and he said "Oh wow, that's really cool!" so I'm kinda excited about it!

I've not seen the stone yet, so I'm not sure if it's seafoamy or minty or what! It looks so bright and sparkly..I am hoping it's a color that will work w/two tone, either silver and yellow gold or silver and rose gold b/c the bezel setting I like so much I can really see as a two tone. But all silver would be fine too!

Well seeing as we all have a bunch of set with Sally- I though I would throw mine in the mix. She is creating a pearl and gemstone bracelet for me. It has a diamond clasp (bought from pearl outlet...actually it might have been pp- i can't remember) with a triple strand of the pearls. Opposite side has my 72.12ct topaz cut by Dana acting as a stablizer for the pearls. I'm very excitied about it!
