Yes, most red gems have either a secondary of orange, pink or even a little blue. I like Burmese rubies because as far as I'm concerned (and I could be wrong), in their finest quality, they are the reddest of red. They even have a touch of blue in them. When they fluoresce, they get even redder, so always ask about fluorescence on any red family gem. It's nice when they get more saturated in the sun.
If a person likes orangey red, then the spinel above is for them. I'm not a fan of orangey red, but many people are. I guess I'm guilty of trying to sway people to what I like , but in reality, it's what you love that matters most, and to know that you should be paying a fair price.
