There are probably small local designers who would make a dress for a couple hundred dollars - although I don''t know how untraditional you''re willing to go.

This place is near me in NY, and I think their dresses are lovely (a little artsy, though). And you can order on their website. (You''d probably want to try stuff on - but it''s worth looking for similar people in your area!)

HECK YA!

I think I paid $315 for my dress at BCBG. It was on sale, but the original price was like $360. It was sold at Nordstrom as well...

i also think Jenny Yoo is a great option. My sister might get her MOH dress there and the fabrics are really beautiful. They are so sweet and accommodating too. The one Meresal posted is beautiful!

Her dresses feel substantial, not like a regular dress that you could get anywhere.

If you are patient, and know your measurements, you can find some great deals on Ebay!

Mine was a Mori Lee sample and I paid a whopping $150 for it! Lemme see if I can dig up a link.

Found it! You have to flip past the hairdo photos... Erica's Dress

I purchased my shantung silk Angelina Faccenda dress for just under 500, shipped to my door, from Pearl''s Place. They''re a shop in New Orleans that does a TON of mail order. I have a thread about the deal I got here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/whatever-you-do-always-call-pearls-place.71143/

The bridal shop where I first saw and tried on my dress wanted 1100 for it. Other places selling it online wanted close to the same. My message is that it might be worth calling Pearls or similar places, like rkbridal, to check prices on dresses you fall in love with in photos or in your local shops, even if you think they might be above your price range. You might be in for a really nice surprise.

As a side note, though I got my dress for a steal, I liked the fabric and construction of my dress 10x more than many of the more expensive ones I tried on (like Maggie Sottero). I thought the Maggies were generally well made, but the real silk makes SUCH a difference.

I think your best bet may to go to retail stores (not bridal specific) that happen to sell wedding dresses. Places like Jcrew, Ann Taylor, Whitehouse/Blackmarket, BCBG, have lines of wedding dresses.

Also, preownedweddingdresses.com will have some great deals. If you are uncomfortable wearing a used dresses, just look for new/sample dresses. Or find a designer that you like, and sign up for their mailing list, and you will get emailed notifications on when they are having trunkshows/sample sales. You could get lucky!

I tried on dresses that cost around $1,000 in the stores and then noted down the style numbers and hunted around for them on ebay, preowned wedding dresses, and craigs list. I ended up finding my $700 dress brand-new on ebay for $150 that way.

Some of the designers I tried were:
Watters
Mori Lee
Jasmine
Nicole Miller
JCrew
Amsale, and about every major designer brand, for their white/ivory/silver/champagne bridesmaid dresses (priced between $250-$400 for the most part) I just booked an appointment as a bride looking for bridesmaid dresses at my local store that carried the expensive brands.
Blue Fly also has some nice ones sometimes, plus department stores like Saks and Neimans.

my dress was about 550! it was ace by allure. you can see many pics under the "married" thread by cocolaw :)!
