Hi Friends… thoughts on this Pear? Is this darker band across problematic? Jeweler says it’s not posing a problem and that it’s beautiful, and I trust this Vendor… would love your thoughts. I understand all Pears will have some level of Bow tie, but is this an issue or contrast? He is also bringing another one for comparison tomorrow but curious on your initial thoughts. The shape is perfect and its color is great too at G.

Can you post a vid?

How do I do that here?? I can send to you directly via Insta, and will, lol! :lol-2:

You have to post on youtube or imgur (on a nameless acct).

Obstruction maybe? Doesn't look like the classic bowtie.

I’m just here to celebrate you and your pear journey … I can’t believe I’m so excited for this :appl::dance::read::lickout::clap::dance:

Can I say no I hate this one??? - just so you can post a dozen more and we can all drool and live vicariously through you? :lol-2:

Seriously… so excited for you!

I’m not wild about it based on this photo. It’s not so much the Bowie — which is fairly pronounced — but overall it looks too dark. Like, too many facets are dark at once. I’d like to see a video. But I’m not wowed by these images at least.

Yeah, trying to figure it out- but The Jeweler seems really high on the stone, so I was wondering too?

Awe! You are the sweetest! This is why I LOVE this community... so much support! Such a different search than my last one. I will say, I will miss the hunt is over! ;)2

Thanks so much @Dreamer_D I am going to get more images tomorrow and also will see another stone to compare it to!

@tyty333 would love your thoughts?

I think a comparison will be very important as will you seeing many well cut pears in person if possible! Have you had that chance?

Yes, I have been looking over the last year~ But pears are so tricky, because while they don't look great on paper they may look great in person and vice versa... I am excited to see the comparison tomorrow!

Hi @TruLuv858

Bow-ties are technically dark (lighting doesn't matter)...that area through the center are facets that are returning direct light so they are acting
like a round brilliant in bright light and are going dark. These facets return larger flashes when they are hit by the right light.

The other facets outside of that area are virtual facets and do not return as bright of light so they do not go as dark. They act
more like crushed ice (little twinkles).

The pears that I like the best have nice feathering between the center area and the virtual facets to the north and towards the
point. You really need a good video to tell how well the facets feather towards the point and rounded end.

I will see if I can find (and post) a pear that acts the way I like (but they are hard to find).

So, in interpreting this correctly, does this mean that that darker area is due to faceting returning larger flashes? So is this a good thing? And not a bow tie situation? The Jeweler really likes the stone, and I know I cannot escape the bow tie effect, only minimizing it... but he says it's really crisp.

Ok Peeps… I made a decision this morning and bought my New Pear!!! It isn’t the one above… I decided I wanted something a tad longer, and this one doesn’t have the gray contrast in the center in certain lighting. I’m sooo excited!

She is “Pear-fect!”

Here she is… Will release more details soon but she is 3 carats… question… thoughts on these side pears? They are .30… wondering if I should take a peek at .50? Jeweler thinks that they might overwhelm the stone? But I kind of feel like I could beef it up a bit?

You probably could go a bit larger but would be interesting to see the diamond and these side pears in real time viewing size. I appreciate the larger picture to get the details - beautiful - but hard to gauge the sides.
Congrats on finding this diamond - can’t wait to hear all about it!!

Have you considered tapered baguettes if you want to keep the focus on the center stone, or are you wedded to pear sides?

I always love Leon Mege's three stone proportions, here's a link to his pear centers: https://leonmege.com/view/portfolio...ee-stone-bridal/filters/key-stone-shape/1396/

Chubbier pear but this is a 3 carat center:

So this a beautiful design- Gorgeous... but I do love the scale of the Pears on the sides. My original ring was a cushion with two bullets, and while beautiful, I want a completely different feel for this piece. My husband already reminded me this is my last stop, lol :lol-2:

Oh Wow! Congratulations @TruLuv858 ! Can't wait to see how this turns out!

@TruLuv858 I thought I saw you post somewhere that you wanted a 3 stone. To me with those size pears, it looks more like a solitaire with side stones.

If you want a 3 stone look, I’d go bigger.

I love your pear!!! I adore the extra length!!! Congratulations on finding the perfect one for you!!! So beautiful!

I agree with @peppermintpatty, I would go bigger with the side pears if that's the shape you want.

Here's a long pear that weighs 3.45 carats with 1.13ctw sides: https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/rin...ond-three-stone-engagement-ring/id-j_8443632/

And another with a 3.15 yellow center with 1.58ctw sides: https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/rin...-diamond-3-stone-ring-platinum/id-j_18542892/

I don't know the sizes on this ring but the proportions are lovely and I like how closely the stones are set: https://victorcanera.com/product/12014/pear-shape-three-stone-ring

Thank you @newtojewels and @peppermintpatty! This is so helpful! My Stone's proportions are: 13.62 x8.09, so she is long but spready for a 3 carat! I should see pics of the .50 pears flanking my stone tomorrow! I will be sure to share, and while I don't want the side stones to detract from the center, I also don't want little side stones, I want it to feel substantial! The visuals were super helpful!

@TruLuv858 this is only my opinion, but I really like the look of the pears on the sides when the are closer to the center. The first picture they are so far up! That doesn’t appeal to my eye. That’s just me, you do whatever makes you happy!!! I’m excited to see what you think of the .50’s!!!

@newtojewels the pictures are very helpful along with the carat weight of the sides! You always are so good about the visual aspect and I think that’s what most people understand and get the most!!! Thanks!!!

That was way too fast, I was hoping for way more eye candy

Seriously, SO happy for you!!! You pear has incredible finger coverage!!! It looks like it’s a very pretty stone, I can’t wait to see a video!

For a three stone, I was definitely bump up to the .5’s! I can’t wait to see your stone set! Who are you planning to use for her dress?

Thank you!!! It felt fast for you! Lol!!! I’ve been hunting for a LONG TIME :twisted2:… for the year coco was with Grace I was plotting- Ha! I also knew that when I found what I wanted I had to jump!! H Color with this cut AND Spread, I had to go for it… Fancies are hard! I’m hoping she quells my DSS forever… I’m also an only child Aries… I make decisions quickly, apathy is not my friend :lol-2:

So Yekutial helped me source my final stone, and then I found this stone yesterday…he called it in, I was lucky it was in NY! He loved it more than the original one he had brought in for me. The transaction was seamless and I was SUPER happy with the price!

I was planning on having it shipped to my tried and true DK, but my stone was already in great hands with Yekutial, not to mention his setting quote was less than DK- it was a no brainer.

Yekutiel to the rescue!!!! My hubby and I adore him!

He was our Christmas miracle - he secured Flora for us!!! :kiss2:

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ahhhh….. ok this makes sense then, lol! I was like ummmm ok, that was like maybe 48 hours … you skipped the obsess and overthink for months stage- that’s just wrong! Lol! Girl, there no need to suffer in silence, we are here to help! :lol-2:

Thought I would share an update! This Brass Mold is on its way to me, but won’t be here until Tuesday :cry2: … I do plan on wearing this with my new eternity band (.33-.35 pointers) ala Jessica Simpson circa 2002 :lol-2:.

I really hope this cures my DSS, I know most people would think this may be too much, but I’m not most people… I think I have a Diamond dysmorphia issue- is that a thing?! My ring will be in all platinum. I’ve never had a Brass Mold created by a jeweler? It’s always been a wax mold.

Is this the ring you asked about height for? What did it end up being?

Is this the ring you asked about height for? What did it end up being?

So his CAD said 5.7mm which doesn't seem right, this def looks taller? I asked a couple of times but never got a response :lol-2: ? But visually looking at it, it looks about right- he also had my CAD for my band, so he said he took that into consideration- which is all I was trying to accomplish. I am going to measure it myself when I receive with my Calipers.

Yeah it looks Munich higher than 5.7 to me. This is a large diamond and the setting has it perched quite high. With just stems and no donut I’d be concerned it will tilt/wobble on the finger or even catch on things. Have you worn a ring with this construction before?
