I'm torn! They both meet my parameters:
*Near colorless
*eye clean by WF standards, up to 6" viewing from the top and profile view as it will be set in a tension setting
*under 13k
*as close to 7mm as I can get
*eligible for an upgrade
Here they are:
1.294 G VS2
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3045749.htm
Size: a 7mm stone! Yipee!
Color and clarity: G VS2 is totally mind clean for color and clarity
Idealscope: I thought the center showed leakage but Liza assures it can't be seen with the naked eye and calls it a technical difference more than a visual one. She's compared the stones in person.
Cost: Within budget though if it were an H and all else the same, it would lower the price tag closer to 10k. Which brings us to…..
1.305 H VS2
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3060894.htm
Size: a 7mm stone! Yipee!
Color and Clarity: H VS2 is likewise mind clean. It's totally eye clean from the top. There is a crystal on the side that could be hidden if positioned properly in the setting.
Idealscope: looks good but does the 1.294 look better?
Cost: I’ll have enough left for a couple of other wish list items.
There is a 1.57 I VS1 that was under consideration but I'm passing due to the following:
*7.5mm, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable sporting that large a rock especially in a setting that will likely be 5mm.
*price eats up my entire budget and I would have to go out of pocket for the setting
*I think the I color would nag me just a bit
Thoughts? On the one hand I prefer the G over H, but there's nothing like being under budget. I wonder if the Idealscope will help settle it?
