Yeah, usually I have champagne taste and a beer wallet . . . this is nice for a change! LOL!
Ditto. Gorgeous stone. Love that citrine. RH doesn''t waste his time and talent on lousy rough. Bet it is wonderful in person.Date: 7/31/2008 7:36:46 PM

Dani, I love the color of that stone! It looks like an orange creamsicle! LOL!
Either Jeff White or Richard Homer will give you a beautifully cut stone......bear in mind, however, that concave cuts aren''t everyone''s "cup of tea". Have you seen one in person?Date: 8/4/2008 10:25:23 AM

OK, here''s where I am:
I got a reply from Richard Homer, stating that he would recommend doing a cushion cut as opposed to an asscher cut. He can do a 10mm x 10mm stone for around $300. (He may still be willing to do an asscher though . . . I''m waiting to hear from him further.)
I also got a reply from Jeff White, who will do an asscher for me, around 10mm x 10mm for around $300.
So, I could go with RH or JW, and the price would be the same for the size and color stone I''m interested in. What I need to decide is, do I really want an asscher or a cushion, and which cutter should I go with.
If it helps, I''m seriously considering this setting, which Dani found at NSC (but I would have it made in 18k yellow gold): http://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/Sapphires/Sapphire-Jewelry/Sapphire-Rings/Jewelry=J683 Thanks again, Dani!

EEEEEK!!! Ms. P, I just saw the asscher you posted above, and trust me, it''s OK that you couldn''t color it orange . . . the color in the picture is actually what I''m kinda going for. AND IT''S GORGEOUS!!!
OK, now that I''ve seen that, I''m SERIOUSLY leaning toward the JW asscher. THANK YOU, MISS PINKY!!!!!
That''s it exactly - the concave is on the bottom of the stone, while the top is more traditional so you can see the facets underneath better.Date: 8/4/2008 12:14:53 PM

THANK YOU, MISS P!!!
Here''s a dumb question: Are RH''s concave facets only on the bottom of the stone, or are the facets on the top concave too? Or does it just depend on the cut? I''m loving the look of the ''blinginess'' inside the stone you posted above, but I''m not sure I''m crazy about the idea of the facets on top being concave. I was thinking that the look was achieved by cutting concave pavilion facets, and having just normal facets on the top of the stone (like the table and all the facets around it, above the girdle).

And just for fun...here''s my stone in the setting
Thanks for the photo reference, Miss P! And you''re right . . . I do love the cut of your stone, so it was very helpful to see it in the setting I''m probably gonna go with. (Don''t worry, you''re off the hook for the "photojack"!)Date: 8/4/2008 1:35:00 PM

hehehe...I just had to! In my own defense, if IrishGirl changes her mind about the JW asscher, she could go with a citrine cut like mine so it was merely for photo reference to help her make the most educated decision possible.
