Ok.. time to start looking into another project. Am I to understand that citrine can come in an orangy color and that this would be an inexspensive alternative to a garnet for a large pendant? Ideas anymore? Comments?

Here''s a linky to get you started.

And check out this site for some pix of nicely cut stones. Yum.

Mine, use the linky provided above to check Fire Opal! now there''s an oranage to go with your spess!

One of the PS vendors (diamondexpert) has a 2.605 ct. citrine available -- concave cushion cut. Described as medium slightly yellowish orange.

Found these "honey/red" zircon that look brownish orange on my monitor. First one is 3.94 c

30.06c citrine. You''d need to wear a neck brace with the pendant!

How about a 4.56 (9.5mm) crysoberyl?

I don''t know why crysoberyl''s aren''t more popular... they''re as hard as sapphires (I think) and have a ton of dispersion! This one is said to have "orange flash"! LINK

You said "large" pendant...

Second this !

Zircon is very nice - if you can find a yellow one eve better: since it can give away so much fire, light colors work best. The darker (red-ish and green) are a different variety than the light white-yellows and not as brilliant by nature.

Just in case your orange ring might allow company

If crysolbeyl is neglected, zircon is almost forgotten - again, no idea why. It used to be somewhat more popular as a (not very convincing) diamond substitute, but how often have you heard of natural zircon ?

prior to getting myself educated a bit re stones, i thought zircons were all just manufactured fakes. confusion with zirconia?!
