... of jewelry acquisition! I got an e-mail from Yekutiel late Friday afternoon telling me my earrings were ready. Now I'm champing at the bit to see them, but there's nothing to be done till Monday!
When I started shopping for these and kept going back and forth about upgrade policies vs. the immediate gratification of a bigger vintage pair, real antiques vs. AVRs vs. H&As, my husband laughed and said, "This is your favorite part, isn't it." And, in part, he's right: I love owning and enjoying my beautiful things, but I also like the build-up of coveting beautiful things, figuring out which kind I like most, and tracking down the best deal. It's sort of nice, having all your options open, knowing you could have that or that or that, before you settle on the exact right one.
Of course, then there's that weird, day-before-Christmas charge of knowing your things are out there: you just can't have them yet! I am by no means a fan of delayed gratification, but there's an odd sort of pleasure in anticipating just how perfect something will be.
And then there's the part where it's all yours (precious), and you get to gloat over it, and take a gazillion photos, and post them here for everybody else to admire, in all probability starting the process up all over again for somebody else ....
Am I an overthinking weirdo? (Well, yes. Obviously. I meant specifically.) Or do you guys know what I mean? If so, what's your favorite part of a project?
