Covid? Again.

HI:

My DH hasn't been sick in 10 years and we get to Cali on a long anticipated holiday, and now has a lousy cold. I really don't know what it is as we don't have any test kits. Lucky our accommodations are huge and he is isolating in his suite with a well appointed deck. Anyway.

not so cheery--Sharon

Bloody hell!
Feel better soon DH! Hope you dodge it Sharon.

Thank you. He is better already--not so severe.

I haven't had a cold in 10 years either--but tested positive for Covid over the NY; I think my son brought it home for Christmas. Thing is he was asymptomatic, but he woke up on Boxing day with a very dry throat. Then 2 hours later a runny nose. He went home later that day and nothing further than that for symptoms transpired.

AFM, I woke up on the Dec 29th with a very dry throat and immediately tested positive. I isolated in my home for 8 days and on day 9 tested -ve. I was completely asymptomatic--which made isolating very difficult as I was otherwise well.

I hope I dodge it also! Back to the 45C temps!! LOL

Glad your dh is on the mend @canuk-gal - Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Very sorry you're ill. I'm coughing and sneezing my head off but in my case the fungus is among us. (allergies, wet season is in full swing)

HI dear Lady:

Any better? Hope so.

cheers--Sharon

I'm gonna live. Thank goodness. Today I feel like there's hope LOL.
Was gonna mask up and head for groceries but the energy crashed. Still, I considered it right?
How is DH faring? Hoping he's on the mend and you can salvage your holiday!

Right???

Mine started off that way and hid what was also brewing. It's a tough allergy season this year I'm told.

I went to a children’s museum today with my granddaughter and woke up at 4 am with bad cold and sore throat. I’m testing positive round 3. S***!

I am just out of my third bout. It was the worst one, but surprisingly no cough - none present at all. The only reason I tested (it’s not longer a thing in the UK & we are encouraged to go about our daily business if we feel well enough to do so, as with a common cold) was because I suddenly realised I had zero smell & was due to visit mother the next day, who’ll be 81 in October. It was a heavy cold in symptom, very snotty, headache & sinus pain. No throat pain or cough. DD also tested positive at the same time (I tested her because she’d had a nagging cough for a few days) & was also positive, but the cough was her only symptom & she felt 100% besides.

We are both fully recovered a week later & attended school & work throughout, though I was mindful to not visit my mother & sent Mr T to the supermarket, as there are a lot of elderly people around that area.

Please tell me that you and your daughter at least wore masks while at work and school while you were still testing positive. A gentle reminder that even if the people you are around aren't elderly or immune-compromised, you don't know that they don't have someone at home who is. Also - even young and healthy people can end up with long COVID or other extremely serious aftereffects. It's not a cold or the flu; it's not something to risk passing to someone else.

This is so true. My niece had it last summer and was "on the mend" after a week or so (and didn't tell me nor mask up and prepared food for a picnic). I got it from her and was sick for 6 weeks. Very very ill. I was so frightened. I've had it twice and that time was more frightening than the first, which was also very bad.

Yes, we both did =)2

I'm so happy to hear that! Good for you both. My husband and I both have to be extra COVID-conscious due to health issues, and it really means a lot to me to know that folks like you are out there. Thank you. =)2

I’m sure not everybody does, but we both did. It’s not mandatory, nothing is here anymore, but I am always conscious of who the people I encounter go home to. I work in a Primary school (age 4-11) & i know an awful lot of children who get collected by elderly grandparents.

First infection was worst for me. Second was relatively mild. This one has me down. Heavy stuffed head, swollen glands, sore throat, headache, sneezing and for the first time; mild cough.

My no-COVID streak is (probably) over. It seems to be everywhere right now. My work team is remote in different states. My area manager has it, my immediate manager just returned from Europe with it, and my husband caught it at a car show last week, bringing home both a trophy and COVID.

I had five exposures without getting COVID, but the sixth time was the charm. I woke up hoarse, coughing, and with a sore throat. Tests are coming today. My new job starts on the 5th of July - I hope it is done by then!

I am finally out of isolation but feel like I have been run over by a truck.

How are you??

Do you qualify for Paxlovid? It gets you better in 5 days. You feel much better after 24 but it’s been gone at 5 days each time for me.

Hi! Doing very well, a rough few nights at first! So glad I got on Paxlovid the same day. I have just two packets to go! I can’t wait.

Thanks, I sure did and do. I used telehealth and was able to stay at home. It did work quickly! Temp was gone in three days - yay!

after negative day 5...back to coughing and another positive test. Rebound Covid.

I'm so sorry you are sick again. Do they repeat the Paxlovid if you rebound? I hope you have a mild case and recover quickly.

They do not repeat treatment. From what I have read, when a rebound happens, it is mild and only lasts a few days. The Paxlovid did it's job keeping me out of the hospital and my immune system will take it from here.

But this morning's test was a strong positive, and just two days ago it was negative.

Bummer.

Follow up call to Dr again today. My face and cheeks hurt so bad I could almost cry. Not a Covid rebound, but a secondary sinus infection. Antibiotics on the way. She said secondary infections are quite common.
