Hey...I am off to a beginners knitting class tonight at 6pm. LOL. My husband is laughing at me saying I''m going to a knitting circle. Weirdo.

I want to learn how to properly weave in an end. And make sure I''m holding my needles right as my hands ACHE something fierce.

Good thing my yarn store is 2 blocks from here! woowooo

If you join Ravelry you can be "Rav Friends" with LP and me.

Except that I haven''t picked up my knitting in for-ev-ah!

And me!

Class was very helpful.

I learned how to properly weave in my ends, and the instructor said my stitches were excellent. I also learned how to figure gauge, and count stitches better.

I learned some about needles & it was SO FUN. she also recommended I learn the european method of knitting as it is faster & easier on the hands (I have hand ache issues).

I joined ravelry but haven''t heard from them yet!

Once you get on there, look me up (same user name)!

I''m in! I must have had my ravelry invite filtered!
off to play.

And I found you! Just sent you a message

(My Ravelry username bears no resemblance to my username on here, I keep ''em separate, but mine is the message from weirdo with the avatar of her stalking a sheep

I dunno what''s wrong with me, but I signed up for a Ravelry account (with a different e-mail address than last time, even), and still no invite.

I guess I''ll keep waiting...

Hi Diver,

Circular needles are also easier because if you want something like stockinette stitch, you just keep doing knit stitches the whole way (instead of, using the non-circular way, having to flip it over and purl, then flip over and knit, etc.)

Huh? I''m confused! How does that work?

Elsie, same thing happened to me! Go on to the ravelry site, click on request information & there is a box where you can check on yours...I put in my email addy & it said I''d been invited & to c''mon in!

Yay!

Ok Delster, I''m off to check on ya before working on my scarf.

After last nights class I am SOOO motivated to make other things! I want to move on from scarves. Hmm...what next? Hat? Socks? Cardigan? LOL. Actually a shrug might be a good start.

Thanks, Diver! I now have an account on Ravelry! I''ll try to look you guys up this weekend -- but if you want to say hello, my username is "elsie08".

Also, regarding my convoluted comment:

"Circular needles are also easier because if you want something like stockinette stitch, you just keep doing knit stitches the whole way (instead of, using the non-circular way, having to flip it over and purl, then flip over and knit, etc.)"

What I meant to say is that if you use circular needles to make a connected "tube" piece (like a sleeve) that needs to be done in stockinette stitch, you don''t have to alternate between knit on one side and purl on the other side. This is because you are only knitting on one side of the piece (compared to when you are knitting a "flat" piece, which you could also do on circular needles -- you would have to knit one side, flip over the piece, then purl, flip over, knit, etc...).

Does that make sense? Sorry, my explanations can get overly complicated sometimes...

Diver - I''d go for a hat next. They are fast, easy, and a great way to learn how to knit in the round! I''ve got a great pattern for you - I''ll send you the link on Ravelry.

Ok, I cast on for the 36" Central Park Hoodie (my true size) as I prefer a fitted look. I was perusing all the FO cph''s and many of them were very slouchy and baggy in silhouette, and I find that to be an unflattering look on me. (being short and all...baggy does not do me any favors)

I went out to buy some Cascade 220, but my yarn shop had none, the other yarn shop had nothing but attitude (mean old ladies...what gives?) so I wound up splurging on some gorgeous Debbie Bliss Luxury Donegal Tweed in a wine color.

If I can get through this hoodie unscathed, I may knit another in brown & use the Cascade 220 for that.

I have 2 inches of ribbing done (I''m knitting the pattern as is, I don''t know how to "Knit in the round" yet) but I looked up seaming on You tube & watched a few videos. Since I know how to sew, embroider, and cross stitch (my mom & gramma taught me all that) it looks simple...time consuming, but simple, since I am very comfortable with a needle and thread. I''ll have my knitting instructor get me started though when I am lucky enough to get to that point. Gotta love my weekly knitting class. I don''t have to attempt anything new without guidance.

I''m in trouble now!! EEEEEKKKK!!!!

The Central Park Hoodie is VERY large. I''ve made two. The first I knit to the exact specifications and it fit a lot looser/larger than I would have liked. The second I knit to a tigher gague so that it would fit a bit smaller. The second one I love!!!

Erica, now that''s so odd to hear! Everyone on ravelry keeps talking about how small it runs. And on the CPH KAL blog too.

I''m just going to knit it to spec....arrrrgh!
