Surfgirl''s comment on another thread about the crankiness around here lately (I''ll use that word instead of the one she used) made me think. Maybe I''ve been feeling cranky. Maybe she has (have ya Surfgirl? Sending hugs and kisses your way. MUAH!) Maybe we all have been feeling it!

Is it winter? Are you looking forward to SPRING?

Anyone interested in thinking through this blah winter (I use blah loosely since I live in Southern California) and sharing all the fun springs things you are anticipating to lift our spirits?

Me? Well, TTot will be born right at the turn of springtime. I am looking forward to those longer days and taking TTot out for walks in his/her new BOB stroller.

Every year, I get giddy when I see the bright green buds pop out on the trees on a street nearby. We don''t have too many gorgeous deciduous trees here so I just LOVE this street and get SO happy. We have a street with cherry blossoms too!

I''m looking forward to wearing capri pants and t-shirts again.

I''m looking forward to having iced tea after TTot is born.

I''m looking forward to seeing my toes. Pedicured. In flip flops.

Anyone else?

Yeah, I am cranky and I discovered a new word, snarky. I am snarky as well!!

I think it''s my hormones as I am usually not like this, but oh well, I guess my time has come. I am positive it''s the pregnancy as I am normally not argumentative and I always considered myself one of the nice PSers!

No TG, I really haven't been feeling that way. But I've noticed quite a lot of posters jumping on others with a very sharp, nasty edge in their posts, and some seem to get worse and worse each time they post. There are times when we all get riled up over a post but this seems to be happening on posts where it just doesn't seem warranted. And when the OP or other posters clarify what they meant, they're still jumped on. It seems to be spreading to different areas of PS and it's just sad.

And no, I'm not ready for Winter to be over...Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons in fact...Bring on the cold Arctic fronts, I say!

LOL Surfgirl...I guess it''s perception because I''ve noticed a couple of posts where the OP poster thought you were a bit sharp yourself. I know I''ve been feeling sharp...I think....

You noticed that too?

Actually, I love winter.

Although, kicking back on my patio in my comfy patio chair sipping a brewskie and quietly rocking out has entered my mind a bit lately....

Maybe I would like winter more...but we have this "faux" winter here in SoCal. But it IS great for clearing our air when we have those perfect, crisp days.

Yeah, if I couldn''t have the full affect, snow, etc., I probably wouldn''t like it so much.

Well since I live in Houston and am only able to experience hot and hotter, I guess spring doesn''t really apply to me.
39.gif

Although it is quite chilly out tonight!
But as much as I miss winter, I remember that I always felt depressed for those 3-4 months, usually around 4pm. I guess because it''s already dark by then. lol.

I know I've been cranky and stressed out.

The past two weeks included: 12 quizzes, 4 exams, 5 homework assignments, BF having mono and a nasty bacterial throat infection, my mom having a nasty intestine infection and trying to get better to go through chemo again asap, getting our windows replaced here in the condo(sitting amongst furniture and other stuff that's covered in sheets as I type) and not being able to sleep because of the stupid alarm going off in the building thats being renovated next door at all hours of the night. And morning.

I just want spring break so I don't have to worry about school for 9 days straight! Not to mention getting to sleep...

ETA, a snow day would be LOVELY, but it's not likely to happen being that I live in the dang high desert and snow is a rare occurrence in general.

I've been in Southern California for 3 years, and it's surprising how quickly I've acclimated to the winter! --and I moved here from Chicago of all places!

I can't wait for spring, because hubby and I like to camp, and it's just a little too chilly right now.

My favorite season, though, is autumn. I really miss that *2 week* Chicago fall.

eta: Oh, and I haven't been cranky, but I have been feeling a general inexplicable malaise.

I''m not overly cranky this week since I''m on vacation, but I''m ready for spring to arrive. It snowed again today and although it''s pretty, I''m done with it. I realize that yes, I DO live in New England, so snow is inevitable in the winter, but this is getting ridiculous. I have to say though, that I''m so glad the worst is over. It''s not as dark at 4:00 anymore, which is just miserable. For that, I am VERY happy.

Dang Freke. I''d be cranky too.

I have also realized this a bit recently... honestly everytime I see a "tiffle" beginning, or already in progress, I hit the back button immediately and wait. The one issue that I have kind of had a problem with, and said something about it in a thread, is that a lot of people seem to be accusing others of having "Underlying issues" in their relationships. Maybe asking the OP's their thoughts before we doom their relationship to failure or years of counseling would be nice. I feel like we should only be giving that advice if we are trained in noticing those things, not just becuase we find that situation odd. Many times I feel that some ladies around here are having a problem seeing that not all relationships work the same way, and that is bc everyone is different. Just my two cents though.

I love it around here, and I love when everyone is HAPPY!!! I myself am in Houston, and love to see the sun out a little more recently. Lake season started on Sunday when it was 85!!! Also, maybe ppl have been edgy, bc we did just pass two very high traffic engagment times of the year (Christmas and V-day)... and there were not as many engagements as women spoke of hoping for before the holidays. That can cause some stress, I'm sure!

OMG!!! Wow, I am so sorry. I will hope for your SB to arrive quickly too!!!

I stand guilty but just a little bit

I mean, I have stated my views a couple times and wanted to make sure things were perceived correctly.

I have posted when tired and thought I was clear and was not, and I did want to clarify things, so at least the original intent of my words gets out there.

I know typed words can be misconstrued and as much as I am true to my views, I do not ever want to be insensitive to people, whatever my opinions are.

I am cranky too because I hurt my back and winter is tooooo long and dreary and cold. But I still want to try to clarify things if they get out of control here.

ahem...

I figured some of us were cranky. No need to apologize if you have been...I was just thinking an upbeat thread looking forward to sunnier days might be uplifting. I don''t think dissecting cranky threads is necessary going to help the mood...hehehe.

I guess I''m just really anticipating longer sunnier days when I can go out after work for walks and not freeze my buns off. Yes, I''m a SoCal wimp!!

TGal, I have thickened my blood living East but have climate envy about now.

Plus you are going to have Ttot to play with come spring...lucky you!

I''ll have to wait until summer to get some more interactive playing with TTot. In the spring, I figure I''ll be dealing more with a little parasite. A cute parasite, but a parasite nonetheless...hee.

And you''re a stronger woman than I am. I can''t handle east coast winters...lovely to visit but boy does it dry out your skin. It cracks when I smile...so no wonder some people don''t bother!!

Lubrication is the key!

Aquaphor, Eucerin. Slather it on. And lip balm every few minutes.

Philly is actually not as bad as some places, boy, I am not sure I could handle it having been a So. Cal girl most of my life!

How is Ttot doing?

Never heard of those things...they''re moisturizers? Another thing I am looking forward to...the smell of sunscreen (the beachy stuff, not everyday wear stuff).

TTot is doing well, thanks for asking! I''m going to ask tomorrow at the doc''s which way s/he''s facing and if s/he''s looking like a piggy from Mom eating too many sweets...

Eurcerin is a lotion, drug store type. I have more expensive ones too but this works decently. I use it on all of my kids.

Aquaphor is an ointment, it is sort of vaseline like but not as heavy and it smells a bit better. Great on dry heels and stuff. You can buy a big tub of it, great on the baby''s tussy after each diaper change as a barrier that is not zinc filled and like glue to remove!

Ooh, will look into it. Thanks diamondfan!!

Oooo...are you talking about the sunscreen that smells like coconuts? Because that stuff is awesome and totally what I think of when I *smell* summer!

Mmm...lemonade, my Aunt Judy''s corn salad, lying outside for 5 minutes until my back feels fried...no seriously, at my parents in direct sunlight, 95 degrees is HOT! Probably because of the higher altitude 5,000+ feet? And flip flops! Lovely flip flops! And all of my other sandals that I love dearly!

Thanks for the concern guys. I think the worst is over for now. Until finals week when I''m sure I''ll get snippy again.

I lurrrrveeee spring. I''ve gotten to play with my spring bulbs the last few weekends and flowers are springing up in my pots, so I am pretty happy. Cranky? Nawww, not me! Willing to call it like I see it regardless of what others think....well that has nothing to do with the weather. Pie loving? Always!!!

I CANNOT WAIT for spring!!! I live in KY, and we have this yucky cold some rain some snow thing going on now. I am soooo over the cold. I just want to wear my flip flops! And skirts! And no coats! *sigh*

SDL, It was nice there eh? I haven''t seen the light of day as I have been trying to get all my stuff done before maternity leave. PS isn''t helping!!!

Yes Frekechild...coconuts!
36.gif
And yes, probably jumping ahead to summer, but I love seeing the start of the yummy fruit season. Strawberries will start gettin good in May. I think cherries are June? So many fruits to eat, so little time. And corn salad...that sounds fab....

I wish I was a gardener...nothing says spring like happy flowers!!!

I''m cranky!
29.gif
I''m sick, just waiting for the bronchitis to set in, there''s a blizzard outside and accidents all over the highway DH has to take home after midnight tonight. Wah!!!
39.gif
Ready for spring, moi???
41.gif

I am looking forward to spring!! Cranky, no, but ready for the weather to change. I do love all four seasons and enjoyed skating on the marsh this past weekend, BUT there is nothing like the awakening of life through the sound, sight and smell that comes with spring. Bring it on!!

Me, cranky? Oh yeah. Soooooo cranky! Glad to hear I''m not the only one. I''m in SoCal too, but I''m DEFINITELY not getting outside enough in the sunlight to get rid of the winter blues. I''ve gotta start getting to work earlier and leaving earlier. I''m super grouchy at home too, and poor DH is getting the brunt of it. I love when it starts staying light past 6.

As for some of the recent threads, I''ve just been doing a lot of this:

LOL, this is a fabulous time for this thread! Today on the radio they were naming off the symptoms of SADD, and I was repeating: "Carb addiction lately? Check. Not wanting to leave the house? Check. Wanting to go back to bed in the morning? Check. Feeling tired all day? Check." ICK! That''s bad news bears. Spring needs to come NOW!

I''m looking foward to: BBQing in the backyard, seeing the grass again, the SMELL of grass, leaves on trees, my light jacket sans scarf, flip-flops, driving with the windows down, summer music festivals, taking walks, thunderstorms (yes, I miss them!), sun-tea, visiting with friends (no one will drive here b/c the roads are ALWAYS bad), wearing heels again (haven''t bothered b/c of ice - too lazy, see above, to change once I get to work), taking my class outside to teach on the first warm day even though nobody can pay attention, having the windows open in the house, hummingbirds, our light summer quilt and high thread count sheets (we''ve had flannel out since oct), not carrying my coat when I go shopping, bike rides, sunshine, farmer''s markets, golfing... there''s gotta be more I''m leaving out!! :)
