El, I want to come where you are this summer...sigh...

Me too! Ok this is really a random thought but between TGal's fruit cravings and Elmorton's everything cravings I got a weird one.

Warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream at the end of August/beginning of September.

You can't MAKE me cranky when I've got some of that on a spoon!

And if you really want to get me started, I just want it to be late summer/early fall. I love that time of year here. The weather is perfect. It's the one season I love in NM.

LOL, there''s always more room on my backyard grill!!!

What state are you in, and can I drive there in less than 4 hours...

My thoughts exactly!

I love late summer, though it gives me some sadness cuz fall is around the corner and the nuttiness with the school year starts up all over again!

But I have all sorts of smells and sites that totally evoke the summer experience to me.

storm has been as cranky as..... as cranky as storm with a sore neck lol
Really been bouncing all over the place......

wifey2b has been sick for the last week+. :{
one of my designs designs got cut! yah!!
job hunt sux right now booooo!
my own business is keeping me busy 2 days a week and helping with the bills.. yah!
Tiger isn't doing well again boooo!
PS has been fun again the last few days ,, yah!!
I hate snow bugs my elbow badly moving it around. boooo!
friend of mine has been pretty good about taking care of the worst of the snow. yah!
did I mention the sore neck .. ouch!

Thanks for starting this thread, TGal. I don''t know so much if the crankiness around here lately is due to weather...it seems to me it kind of comes in cycles around here, i.e., every couple of months there will be a thread that just agitates the whole community and then there is closure and a sense of relief, like "whew, that had to get out there, now it''s done." That''s how I''ve seen it, fwiw. I don''t mind a little crankiness now and then, it sort of shakes things up and provides a little extra entertainment, imo.

Anywho...I''m looking forward to spring because this April I''ll have been in braces a WHOLE YEAR, recovered from my surgery almost a whole year ago (in May), and hopefully DH and I will have new and better jobs and be more on our way to starting a family. I''m hoping to be done with the braces and have a whole new smile by next December (the ortho quoted me 18-24 months but says I''m doing exceptionally well) so I have a lot to look forward to in that aspect.

I''ve always loved spring/summer/fall anyway...I''m not a cold-weather person and Chicago was probably not the best choice I ever made moving-wise, but my dearly beloved was here and not open to relocation and it was a fair enough trade, LOL! I look forward every year to the fruit trees in our neighborhood blossoming, then planting my annuals and tending the perennials and spending the rest of the summer and fall nurturing all of them. Thank goodness the cicadas infested us last year and I won''t have to worry about the for another 17 years (memba that?), it was horrible and an experience I wouldn''t wish on my worst enemy.

I agree with Monnie, it does seem to go in cycles. Yes I have been cranky, this darn weather is getting me down, and I was sick for a long time with the flu, bronchitis, & a sinus infection. Add to that a severe pinched nerve in my neck, I have 3 herniated disks in my neck, am used to pain, but this pinched nerve put me over the edge. I got a cortisone shot and am a tad better. So yeah bring on spring. I love the sun, the nice weather and to see my cherry trees bloom. And am looking forward to going to Nantucket now that the house is finished. The contstruction drove me insano. Can't wait to go there and peace out.

TGal you have so much to look forward to with TTot. Such an exciting time for you and TGuy!!!

Aiiigh. Dah-blum it ... I''m cranky! Its the darkest part of a dark winter here and I''m probably on edge & stir-crazy. Must. Avoid.

And, hey, all this talk of springtime & peaches has reminded me of the untouched, unspoiled, 100% genuine Ben&Jerry''s PEACH COBBLER pint I have in the icebox.

No fair tempting those who don''t have anything resembling peaches or cobbler in their fridges or freezers this time of year...

I'm not too cranky but I am ready for Spring Break 2K8! COLLLLLLLLLLLEGE! OW! I'm going to Costa Rica and there's gonna be ragers every night! I'm talking 2 and 3 kegs! I'm hoping to get on Girls Gone Wild 49! Hahaha...at least I can amuse myself, right?

But seriously though, here's what I'm looking forward to:

-10 days of fun in warm, sunny Costa Rica-I'm leaving on the 7th of March! Eek-that's just around the corner!
-Getting a lil' teeny bit of a tan, but not so tan that I will be wrinkly and old looking in a few years.
-Wearing dresses without tights.
-Wearing my most favoritest pair of sandals as well as various other sandals and flats that are too open for winter.
-Outdoor soccer season to start.
-Looooong days-I love 'em! I wish it was light all the time! I really do...I could totally handle that.
-Walking up the street to get delish homemade PEAR sorbet from the local ice cream shop. I'm drooling just thinking about it!

Okay, I guess that's enough! Bring on the heat!

LOL, you're right! I did exhibit my share of crankiness responding to your post!

Maybe because the AI male contestants were a wee bit disappointing tonight, plus I have no peaches or cobbler within reach...and even if I have $4 to spend on B&J I'm not venturing out on icy snowy streets at this late hour to get some (already made the treacherous trip to the grocery earlier this evening, waaaay before Idol started). Muah, enjoy your b&J, I will be envious from afar.

ETA: Deco, just realized what the first sentence of your post was REALLY about...yikes, it seems like the crime rate really rises in either the horribly cold months or the super hot summer months...making no sense...need peach cobbler...give me some...yaaarrr!

TONIGHT?! TONIGHT?! ARGH! I missed it! NOW I am cranky!

I haven''t been cranky so much but def stressed... new job- completely different career! day job- autistic student''s schedule changing when makes the student stressed which makes things difficult. confrontation regarding dress purchase/return... I so don''t do confrontations! trying to make decisions on whether to marry here or on the cruise ship or in a port and have a reception on the beach here or some place or or or... I think I just need to sit and cry in a tub of Haagen-Daz Cookies and Cream.

I will say it was a BEAUTIFUL day here in Los Angeles. Blue blue sky... sunny... perfect relaxing in the shade. I wore some cute strappy, black patent wedges today... loved not wearing socks to keep the tootsies warm and not walking around the hem of my jeans wet from dragging in the rain. The change in weather made the kids at school crazy... but it was a happy crazy :) The apple blossoms on my tree are so pretty and the fresh squeezed oj is refreshing. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice as well. I love spring! and fall! but welcoming spring!

OMG sera....wet hems from the rain drives me CRAZY. i always forget to wear heels so that they don''t drag and there is nothing worse than wet denim slapping against your naked foot...argh. that makes me cranky for sure!! hehee.

re: recent cranky threads or people on edge...for me it''s just the natural part of the cycles of a community. PS in general is a very sweet environment....things mostly just kind of move along quite happily. yet...every once in a while, people just rear up. not surprisingly i''m sure, i kind of like it, keeps people on their toes. but i take everything with a big ole ROCK of salt...because i''ve been here so long i''ve seen it all mostly. it''s very cyclical...people on PS are that way too. come and go.

i had mini-cheesecakes tonite so yeah...not cranky. and it was sunny today after a while of rain. flowers. yay!

iiiiiii KNOW! and I totally forgot to wear boots the other day! Not only did I wear flats, but I wore my flattest flats!

Speaking of cycles... yanno is house full of women they all PMS at the same time... so... maybe it''s just PmS or PSm (PSmoodiness) or somethin''

SDL, It was nice there eh? I haven''t seen the light of day as I have been trying to get all my stuff done before maternity leave. PS isn''t helping!!!

Yes Frekechild...coconuts!
36.gif
And yes, probably jumping ahead to summer, but I love seeing the start of the yummy fruit season. Strawberries will start gettin good in May. I think cherries are June? So many fruits to eat, so little time. And corn salad...that sounds fab....

I wish I was a gardener...nothing says spring like happy flowers!!!

Oh yes.. I could see the outside from my middle of the building cubicle. LOL Ahhhh.. sunshine. I did lunch out in it today, which was really lovely.

Uh Freke.. I would love the recipe for the corn salad.. sounds divine!

SDL, I''ll get the recipe from my mom sometime soon and then post it in Hangout. It''s got lots of onions and garlic and has a tendency to make breath stinky, but in my opinion, its SO WORTH IT.

Mmm...coconut sorbet...Yummy...that was random.

I''m not cranky but I''m restless. Sure wish I was near an ocean.

ocean-scene-web.jpg

Monnie, getting the braces off is the best! I couldn''t stop running my tongue over my teeth...so smooth like glass...

Ugh Kaleigh, I am sorry about your pain. That doesn''t sound like fun at all, and I agree...you could use some sunshine and warmth!

Strm, you DEFINITELY could use a change of seasons!
2.gif

Deco, didn''t you have some house or roof remodel or something? That alone would drive me bonkers and stir crazy. I''d be on the edge for sure.

Lumpkin, you''re right. The beach just has a way of making me feel so zen. So huge, and me so small...and my problems too. I am lucky I am so close to one.

re: PS crankiness...geez, I probably "listen" and "talk" to you ladies more than I do some of my friends IRL. It''s only natural that we get snippy from time to time with one another. We''re exposed to each other a lot!
1.gif

Mara, wet velour feels gross too. The slush here is amazing and my hems are a tad long. All day long I have to feel mushy sweats on my feet (cuz I wear Ugg clogs and not boots like a nit wit!(

Mini cheesecake sounds awesome, how do you stay thin eating that?! (inquiring minds who want to lose weight and fight against their sweet tooth want to know...)

Wet hems (to me) = time for DH and I to get outta those wet clothes, LOL! Trust me, there ARE some things about winter that can make couples happy.

LOL, this is a fabulous time for this thread! Today on the radio they were naming off the symptoms of SADD, and I was repeating: ''Carb addiction lately? Check. Not wanting to leave the house? Check. Wanting to go back to bed in the morning? Check. Feeling tired all day? Check.'' ICK! That''s bad news bears. Spring needs to come NOW!

I''m looking foward to: BBQing in the backyard, seeing the grass again, the SMELL of grass, leaves on trees, my light jacket sans scarf, flip-flops, driving with the windows down, summer music festivals, taking walks, thunderstorms (yes, I miss them!), sun-tea, visiting with friends (no one will drive here b/c the roads are ALWAYS bad), wearing heels again (haven''t bothered b/c of ice - too lazy, see above, to change once I get to work), taking my class outside to teach on the first warm day even though nobody can pay attention, having the windows open in the house, hummingbirds, our light summer quilt and high thread count sheets (we''ve had flannel out since oct), not carrying my coat when I go shopping, bike rides, sunshine, farmer''s markets, golfing... there''s gotta be more I''m leaving out!! :)
I have SAD. I have had it for years. I am dying for the spring to come so I can put my light box away and my moods will lift.

I know I have had an outburst lately. While I don''t regret why I did it, I think I could have been less personal in my posts. I do feel bad being nasty and offer an apology to Mara for the things I said. I could have worded things a lot better.

If you put as many women together in one room in real life it would probably get way more heated than it does on here. I think we sometimes forget that even though there are names on a screen, there are real people typing and their feelings might sometimes get a bit hurt.

On the whole PS is a lovely place to hangout.

Maisie, I''ve never been diagnosed with SAD but I''m positively, absolutely sure I have it. You would have been impressed with my outburst today...DH ran downstairs and didn''t come back up for some time...wow. is all I can say. I went straight down to apologize to him (and he accepted graciously but sort of warily as usual), and I realized that this really is a problem of mine. Thankfully he understands that I need tons of sun in my life and "gets" that my winter mood swings are totally not directed at him.

As far as PS mood swings, typically I don''t think I have them...I am pretty good (I think) about not responding to threads that get me agitated or fired up and just leave them alone. That''s MY story, and I''m stickin'' to it.

I''m sorry you are having a rough time of it. I had SAD for years before I was diagnosed. I use a lightbox every morning from September to April and its really helping. I got the box last year but not until I had already slipped into the depression, so it didn''t really help. I am actually a lot better this year.

I put weight on in the winter and I get stressed really easily. I eat far too much and sometimes have weird thoughts. Its not a nice thing to have, thats for sure!

Hmmm.... Cranky. Not really.

Frustrated at work. Yes.

I guess it would not be called work if it were easy and pleasant.

FrekeChild: I guess you would like my recipie for Garlic Beef.

5 to 7 large garlic cloves (i.e. 5-7 teaspones of minced garlic).

About 1 Lb diced beef.

Lightly brown the garlic in olive oil, add beef and brown it.
Salt and pepper to taste. (if in doubt - add more garlic).

I agree on how good it is; and I had it this week.
