CUSHION CUTS! A collection...

Lil Misfit » 30 Sep 2011 22:41
My friend Catherine has been married for almost 2 years now, and last night as she was helping me celebrate my birthday with some cake and wine, it was the first time I thought about snapping a pic of her gorgeous ring. I don't know all of the specs, but I do know that the center stone is a 1.09 D cushion and the setting was a custom made replica of the Tiffany Legacy.

I am late in getting around to post pics and all I have is a bad phone shot but I do have the video Crhis made at ERD.
1ct, VS1, F cushion cut in platinum. It has two tiny sapphires for my twins birth stones. I know it is not everyones taste but I love it.

These aren't mine (I haven't gotten it *yet* ), but they are Daussi cushions so I thought I'd share them.

I really like the way that he cuts his stones. I know that his depth and table percentages aren't what some would consider "idea," but going off of what my eyes tell me, I LOVE how they look. I'm not a big fan of the crushed ice look, and I really love emerald cut diamonds. The one I picked out is so very unique....it looks like a crisscut/cushion hybrid. It's very elongated. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of it, but as soon as my SO pops the question I will post a picture of it on this thread.

From what I can remember, the GIA report stats on these stones are: (in order)

.69, G, VS2

.90, J, VVS2

.71, D, SI1

A representative from HD in New York mailed these stones to my local jewelry store for me to look at. I wasn't crazy about them, but they are still very pretty.

OMG, that is gorgeous! I can see why you can't stop looking at it, I wouldn't be able to either! Is it a Verragio setting?

Congratulations!!

Thank you! It's actually made by Baida Jewelry in Los Angeles, they are awesome.

 BEAUTIFUL

Hi all, here's my brand new cushion engagement ring
If you are here because you are wondering if a cushion is for you, then the vintage/antique and antique style cushion have the benefit of (IMHO) looking good is the slightly coloured range. And the other benefit is chunky faceting which can mean a fiery stone.

They also, I think this is generally true, have a decent spread - this is a 1.48 on a 5.25 finger.

Finally, its cool having something a little different. Hope this helps any one wondering :wavey:

Hi! I just received my ring this week- its a 1.6 ct antique cushion sourced by Adam at OWD (I highly recommend him!) and set by Leon Mege in his Princessa solitaire in rose gold (Leon was also an absolute pleasure to work with.) Ring size 4.75. :)

Hi sweethearts,

Do you know the width of the shank on your cushion ring? Thanks.
