isaku,

just a random late thought but have you seen in person or tried on any settings like the DK one or replica you want? I only ask because there have been so many settings I have fallen in love with and once I tried them on I was not happy with how they looked on my hand or even some of them in person. I agree that the setting is drop dead gorgeous but would definitely want to see it and touch it b/f spending that kind of money. Another reason why having someone make it who doesn''t do it regularly would make me nervous. Any chance the vendor who owns the DK can send it too you or has a return policy that you can return it if it''s not as expected?

ok, i''m confused

the vendor asked you if you wanted a DK 2.19 asscher and then would have it set in the DK setting you want? So, this vendor doesn''t have the setting you want in stock, the ring would have to be made?

and Jonathan can get you the same DK asscher? can he get the setting too or just the stone and then you''d still have to find someone to do the setting?

mrssalvo,

You are one wise lady!!! In Canada, we have very little access to asschers and none to Daniel K rings.

I have not seen or tried on one ring that looked like the one I''m admiring and I don''t even know if the 2.19 is set yet. The sample I saw a picture of had a 1c+ asscher and .80c in the ring. Can you spell n-a-i-v-e????? No, let me ramp it up to just plain stupid!!!!

I am assuming that it is a ready-made Daniel K ring listed in the Daniel K inventory. When vendor X saw it listed, he remembered Isaku''s earlier request and contacted her. If it is indeed in the Daniel K stock, then Jon can access it as well. That is what I was understanding.

I am assuming it is already made becasue that is how Jonathan indicated Daniel K rings come. You cannot see the stone loose.

oh boy, I just don''t know. I thought DK rings were made to order for sizing reasons etc. I didn''t know they even had a stock of completed rings in varies stone sizes etc that would be on a list. And, I don''t think just any vendor can call up DK and purchase a stock setting from him. They can buy the stones but only an authorized dealer can sell the settings. Last I knew GOG wasn''t a DK dealer. Hopefully Jonathan will jump back in for some clarification

I can hunt down the thread but you can buy DK stones loose. I'll find it and add it here.

You and me too, mrssalvo.

As I understood the message, I think the 2.19 would have to be set in the DK setting.

I''m not sure whether Jonathan can get the setting and the stone, or just the stone.

Jonathan already has the stone I want- the 2.26- but I doubt that he could set that diamond into a DK setting.

Maybe Jon will chime in and let us both know what he can and can''t do.

I am sure you can''t set a stone of your choosing in the Daniel K. I think it is a finished ring with a 2 carat diamond already set in it. This vendor is not talking about a loose diamond.

you are right. you cannot buy a DK setting w/out buying the stone. I assumed the vendor saw a DK 2.19 that they could set into the DK setting isaku wants or already had the completed Dk ring in stock.

Jon can get the Dk stone or another DK stone but as far as I know he cannot get her the DK setting.

I think Jon meant he can get the stone and ring, but hopefully he will chime back in and clarify!!!

isaku i thought of something last nite in relation to you and this project...

a stunning asscher in the hand is better than an asscher in the bush!
9.gif

may or may not be true but i thought it was kind of funny.
Sorry for the lapse in integrity!!!
38.gif

Today, I came to my senses, notified the other vendor that I was no longer interested in "the deal" and e-mailed Jonathan that I was NOT straying from the 2.26!!!!!
36.gif

When GOG is open tomorrow, I''ll put in a call and have the diamond sent to Pete at Quest.

I talked with Pete this afternoon, confirmed his address and told him to watch for it.

As Mara stated so perfectly "a stunning asscher in the hand is better than an asscher in the bush".
9.gif

Everyone on PS has given the 2.26 the seal of approval, and that''s good enough for me. Storm even went the extra mile to send an ASET image and also an I scope? to confirm that it is indeed a winner.
36.gif

Thank you all for your input and hopefully there will be no more detours!!!
36.gif

Now the wait for Pete''s CAD''s on a slight variation of the Gypsy/Irina setting.

YAY!!! I knew you''d come to the right decision!!! (Did you see my note in my Macro thread???)

You did EXACTLY the right thing IMO. CONGRATS!!!

Feeling VERY happy for you!
36.gif

Thanks, Gypsy,

I did see your comment in the Macro thread, and that confirmed what I''d already decided!!!

Pete already refers to it as "the Gypsy setting" and stated his approval as well. So now you''re famous just like Daniel K, but a LOT less expensive.
9.gif

Pete also confirmed that we''re not infringing on any copyright issues so all is well.
36.gif

Great decision, Isaku!
36.gif

The only bad news is that now we''ll never know what the "knock your socks off" price was on the DK!

yay for you isuku. You do have a wonderful storm approved stone and I''m sure quest will do a wonderful job on your setting. They are the nicest guys to work with. I can''t wait to see this project completed.

I think you made the right decision, too!
36.gif

How exciting!!!! I can''t wait to see the cads etc...

Okay that caused me to LOL. Pete knows me as Layla-- my real name.

As for famous... tell him he better do that ring justice cause I''m just waiting to send this diamond in for my setting and now I get the luxury of getting to see your process!!!

Actually I''m positive he''ll do it justice... no threats needed. I''m SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

Happy to hear about the lack copyright issues!

That''s definitely the downside, widget. But since they couldn''t seem to get their act together, I probably would have been wearing my socks for a loooonnnnng time.LOL

I can''t wait either, mrssalvo. Pete estimated about 5 weeks to completion; very reasonable. I''d say considering that he''s going to do CADs, waxes etc.

Fingers and toes crossed here

Thanks, diamondseeker and kaleigh for your good wishes.

A special thanks goes to you, kaleigh, for speaking to Pete regarding certain issues (much to Mara''s distaste

Gypsy/Layla (beautiful name btw).....My ring will be his first attempt with a traps/baguette halo on an asscher, I think, so yours should be a breeze.....

Since you are responsible for finding the design, will it continue as the Gypsy, or be christened as the Layla? Your call...

Big hugs Isaku!

I''m sure you won''t be disappointed, and I am looking forward to the progress of the ring!

xoxo

Jade.

Thanks, JadeLeaves,

Have you decided whether you want a bigger asscher, or a nicer one than the 2.47. I have to say that is a case for seeing at least photos of the stone, as on paper it looked darn good to me.

I''ll be the first to admit, I''m no expert by any means.

I''ve decided to wait for the AGS 0 Emerald cuts to be launched, and then go for a bigger stone because I am probably not going to upgrade the asscher.
