What does it mean when a diamond''s been "deactivated"?

Not sure where you saw this, but if it was on an online database, it probably means the diamond is no longer available.

The WF diamond I was following says it''s deactivated. It usually says SOLD! Such a shame that it''s not available anymore!

again???

It isn''t that same stone but I''m sure it''s possible that it was deactivated for the same reason!

Okay, in the other thread it said that the stone did not meet ACA standards and it was moved to Expert Selection instead. I think the reason for this is that when a parcel of diamonds come into WF, they go ahead and grade them and put them up on the site while they are at AGS being graded. Sometimes, a feature may be borderline and AGS may grade something differently than WF thought it would get. For example, WF may have considered polish and symmetry ideal while AGS decided excellent. That would knock the stone out of ACA and into ES. Once the stone comes back with the report, they adjust the listing online. Truthfully, those stones are a GREAT value if you see a price differential because appearance-wise, they look just as good as an ACA.
