So I have the stone http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9022/ now to decide on the setting. I thought I had made up my mind that I was going to go with this Tacori setting

But now I'm really loving this setting, especially the profile

I was also considering having Steven Kirsch make a custom setting but I keep going back to the profile views of both these settings. Which setting do you like better? Or neither?

I like both profile views, especially the second one. However, I do not like how high they are. I think they look crazy high. For that reason, I would prefer the have someone like Steven make my own version with the elements I like but with the changes I require. I would also have my wedding band made at the same time to ensure that it goes with my ER the way I want it to. It's much easier to do this at the same time.

Could Steven Kirsch make a profile like the second ring? I didn't know if someone could replicate something like that...

This is what I would go with if I had the money...

edit: Mr Mege won't set AVC. But I would bet ERD or Mr. Kirsch could develop a similar setting, the thing I like best about the Mege setting is that the stone pops OUT... the Tacori settings are of course lovely but to my eye have much going on.. no matter what you choice the stone is a to die for stone, I have a 1.33 AVC and I cannot say how much I love it.. it's just phenomenal, best of luck and congratulations on a great buy!

that stone is GORGEOUS! I would go custom and get exactly what I wanted to showcase that beauty!

HI Crystal! again congrats on this beauty.. I edited my post after looking at your stone for ten minutes and drooling, true.. and remembered Mege won't set GOG AVC.. maybe ERD or Mr. Kirsch.. as I said above.. that stone is a to die for, once in a lifetime, lucky you buy.... congrats.. no matter what that stone will shine a mile away.

Someone told me Leon won't work with an AVC...

I may be wrong, but I don't know that Steven would be the best vendor for a Tacori-inspired ring. His work is much more pavé and smooth lines, not the delicate details of the side profile that you like on the Tacori rings. This is based on my own conversations with him in the last year but it wouldn't hurt to reach out to him to see if he would be able to. ERD has done very nice CAD Tacori-inspired rings for other PS members.

Thanks for the info! Do you know of anyone on PS that has one of these rings? I would love to see his work...

i tried on the first tacori pic and I'm not a halo girl but I loved that halo so subtle and pretty.

When you tried it on Do you remember thinking it might sit too high?

I haven't tried that one, but it looks like in the HT line of Tacori, the big sister to the 2620 which I used to own. It has an extra row of pavé on the side right above the basket, where the standard version simply has the bloom halo under the center stone and not the halo that you see from the profile (if that makes sense). That would make it sit at least 1mm higher from the extra height. Not sure if that would be enough to get in the way of everyday wear, just depends on your lifestyle I suppose.

All I have to say is that I prefer the prongs to the bezel.

I was at the store today and tried on this setting. It is sky high in my opinion ... will be banging on a lot of stuff.

Wow that's not good

I have the petite version of the 2620 with a 1 ct round and the height of that never bothered me. Do you think it's much higher than that?

I have never seen a bezel set IRL so I'm not sure if I would like that or not

Honestly, especially with settings that are this detailed, you really should go find an authorized Tacori dealer, call ahead and make sure they have the settings you want to see, and go see them! That's the good part about going with a setting that already exists, you can go see it in person! As for having a custom version made, once you decide what you like email both vendors with pics and what you may want changed and get a quote. I would think Steven would be more than ERD but you never know!

A lot of it is personal preference for height. All my rings are set low because I like my rings low.

I do plan on seeing them in person, providing they have them too see. There are 3 or 4 places near me that carry some of the Tacori line. I like hearing peoples opinions about why they do or do not like them. I never even realized that the second setting was a bezel until AprilBaby said something about it :errrr:

I wanted a plain shank ring with a delicate halo 6 years ago. And Tacori was the only one that made one. So I tried on ALL their halos and as a rule they were all too high for me. Which was great as it made the center stones look very large. But terrible in terms of banging around. When I had my ring custom made, I went much lower and I am glad I did. Then when Steven re-did my ring, he lowered it a bit more, which is great. I still like Tacori rings though, and I try them on whenever I am in the stores. But the height still makes me glad I didn't go with one of their halos.

ERD has made the closest Tacori like rings I have seen on these boards. Steven's style is TOTALLY different. More Harry Winston than Tacori. But I do think that, having tried this setting on, the height is something I personally wouldn't be comfortable with.

That second tacori is gorgeous!!!

ditto. I prefer the ritani french hallo its sits lower an I like the pave

So It sounds like ERD is the best way to go for custom. How much of a ring can they actually duplicate? Let's say I loved the second setting but wanted the basket a little lower and the stone to be set with prongs instead of the bezel....would that be too similar to replicate?

No, that would probably be enough for copyright. I'd do a smaller basket in the undergallery, period though.

Wow I have called 4 jewelry stores around me and none of them have these settings :(sad. One place said they could possibly have a sample shipped in but I would have to pay shipping...

So pay shipping. You're paying thousands. Might as well pay 50 bucks (max) for shipping.

So I found a jeweler that is going to get both settings in for me to look at :appl: She did tell me that Tacori doesn't have the cushion version of the second one in a sample, only a princess version, but I'm hoping this will still give me the general ideal of what it will look like. Will be able to see them in about 2 weeks :naughty:
