i wanted to go the ballroom dance shoe route too for several reasons. 1- i danced oh, some 15 years of my life 2- comfort. but they don''t make them in a 4 inch heel. or at least that i''ve found.
Hmmm... looks like some 3.5-ers but, you''re right, no four - so far. I''m looking for LESS heel, cause I''m 5''9 1/2 & the Sweetie is 5'' 11ish ... no need to tower!
3.gif

How much do these dance shoes run about? Inquiring minds want to know!
2.gif

Just like those, Deco! I was just to lazy to get a pic posted. lol

And I am with you on the lower heel. I am only 5'2", but FI is only about 5'8" (though he claims to be 5'10"
20.gif
). Plus, I want to feel super stable walking down that aisle.

Gypsy, it looked from the site like most were in the $150 range, which may be more than I want to spend now.

ETA: Now that I look again, they only have prices listed for one brand...I'm not sure if that is representative of the rest or not.

*** TWO NEW QUESTIONS for the WEDDING POSSE ****

Would it be really weird/uncomfortable to carry these babies down the aisle as a bouquet?? I''d been thinking about mini Sunflowers or three big Sunflowers ... but I keep coming back to this photo (Sundance Catalog)

Some background -- I love metal objects, collect tin signs & such, have a lot of painted shabby chic type stuff like this around. I saved this with the idea of it being a serving table arrangement or something ... but all of a sudden thought: BOUQUET!

I could probably form a tighter bunch of these & wrap with strong wire ribbon. They''re 2 inches wide each ... and, though the bunch is expensive ($78)... much less than most floral bouquets.

Okay that''s really just one question.

metalflowers.jpg

I don''t think I''m understanding the idea here. You''d carry the flowers from that arrangement-- but NOT the vase down the aisle... with the flowers somehow constructed into a bouquet?

IF that''s what you meant... then go for it! If not, and you meant to carry the whole vase arrangement down the aisle.. um. No.

** CLARIFICATION **
No vase!
9.gif
Yeah, they''re just displayed in the vase in the catalog pix ... they sell you a bunch of 13-14 little metal "blooms"

I wonder if they''d be too bare, even bunched into a nosegay ... or too busy with my all-lace dress.

Orrrrr - I wonder if I could work them into a grouping of fluffy flowers of some kinds.

They''re so ME ... but, sometimes, too much is just too much. Hmmm.

I should preface this by saying that I personally hate baby''s breath... but it can look really lovely sometimes.

That said... I think that if you did a bouquet of those metal flowers mixed in with a cluster of all baby''s breath. It would be REALLY REALLY cool. Just a nice bouquet of baby''s breath and those would be striking, unique... and still very bridal. I''d do it as a hand tie with a bright colored ribbon.

Wow, how cute are those? I honestly can''t envision how they''d look in a bouquet. If you were really planning to get them to use as a table arrangement anyway, why not order them & play around with them a bit? If they work as your bouquet, fabulous! If not, you can still use them as a great table arrangement (perhaps at the head table, if there is one, or cake table, etc.) & keep them in your home after the wedding & use the sunflowers as your bouquet. Win-win, right?

I LOVE them and I think you should go for it! I feel like it is really important to have things at your wedding that represent YOU and those definitely fit the bill. I do think that they may need to be mixed with something, as they seem on the small size. What are your colors again (I''m too lazy to go back and look)?

BTW, I think you should start one thread and post all of your wedding stuff, because you are having the coolest wedding ever. And I want to see it all in one place so I can pretend I am cool enough to be going.
3.gif

Hmmm, they are VERY cute but I think they might look a bit spare. I think I might try doing like one big sunflower, 2 small sunflowers, and 4 of the metal ones all mixed together? For some reason I just looooove the sunflower idea a little too much to give up on it completely!
3.gif
But those new ones are SO cute, plus I totally agree that you should have as many "you" things in the wedding as possible, so I think I''d want to incorporate them somehow! I wish I were better at photoshop so I could show you what I''m picturing in my head, because my imaginary version looks pretty!

Oh MAN ... I LOVE that idea ... try it out ... if not, head table & then I could use them on my kitchen table everyday (where the cats swat at real flowers & tip over vases) ...then when we eat dinner there, it''ll remind me of our wedding. SAP! I''m a Wedding SAP!!!

**SLIGHT UPDATE***
I made the terrible mistake of showing The Sweetie these last night and he was like NO WAY on the bouquet thing ... though I think I could mix some in to other flowers as Albi & Gypsy & Fatafelice mentioned & "get away" with it.

**COMPLETE SIDENOTE**
Who knew what a little traditionalist I was marrying?? A real Mr. Martha Stewart/Manners!!
3.gif
Some wacky things he''s totally cool with (me walking to Nic Armstrong''s "Down Home Girl" - or serving only glass bottled beverages -- or recommending people come in "Little House on The Praire" style garb "for the laughs") but then, he''ll just STUN me with a "No we CAN"T do THAT" ... like I pondered typing our invite envelopes with an old fashioned manual typewriter (paried with vintage stamps) ... he''s all THEY MUST BE HANDWRITTEN! IT''S HOW IT''S DONE!
3.gif
20.gif
And with the tin flowers ... he was like THAT''S NOT A BOUQUET .. THAT''S RECYCLING!

sidenote- this reminds me of a wedding gift my FSIL's & FBIL's received. he graduated in journalism. and his groomsmaid (she stood on his side and FSIL's brother and I stood on her side) gave him a vintage typewriter for their gift. very different and very cool.

--Awwww. That's so nice Fatafelice! I keep meaning to, but I don't have photoshop to "white" out our names & stuff. I have to physically take pix of everything with cross outs & stuff. Maybe! Maybe after it's all over!

p.s. - colors? we were supposed to pick colors? No bridesmaids so I'm flying blind.
2.gif
Um, red & white gingham runners w/ red/orange/yellow gerber daisies ... our invites were a dark cherry red (almost burgandy) & white w/ choc brown type ... so I guess red/white/choc brown/yellow ... festive ... barny ... casual.

Oh wow, I love that idea!

Actually, I love just about all your ideas. You definitely need a "Deco''s wedding" thread with everything in one place.

Deco, to be completely honest, I think I would rather have a small, fun barn wedding like yours. But the way to actually get to have my wedding in Asheville, and not have FMIL throw a fit, was to have it at Biltmore. And I actually wanted to have it at their "Historic Horse Barn," but FI didn''t want to deal with open space/weather/tents, etc. Don''t get me wrong, I completely love my venue and I am SO exited about having my wedding there(and the food, yum!). I just mean that in my ideal world, it would have been more like yours!

Just read the update -- how did I not see that before? -- Well, I think you should still sneak a few in. When the actual day rolls around he probably won''t notice or care.
31.gif
I only asked about the colors to narrow down what might look good with the metal flowers. There''s a lot of blue in them. Hmmmm... I will ponder this and get back to you.

As for posting the invites -- no excuses! We want to see them. Even my paint program has an eraser! I''m sure something can be done on that Mac of yours.

''Fraid its tooooo late. We did use "American Typewriter" font for part of the invite though ... I will try to post if I can figure out how ... and we kinda of have an all-lowercase typewriter font theme going through the invites & website & (future) cd cover.

I used to have a gorgeous mint-condition vintage typewriter (gift from a friend of my Grandpa''s when I was in high school), but I''ve moved so many times I can''t remember where it ended up. We''re going to my parents house in VA over Labor Day & I am gonna search for it & my old sewing machine!

YOU - my dear JCrow - are gonna have to start an invite makin'' side biz!

i like what fata menitoned- do the envelopes your way on some- how about your side gets the cool ones and his the traditional?
i would SO do that.

hey- well a typewriter font would work really well!

ha, i was just telling FI last night that if i could i''d ONLY design invites, stationery & logos for the rest of my life! it''s rare that i get those jobs and i treasure them when i do! i freelance on the side, it''s just had getting clients. it''s all who you know/who knows you.
plus it doesn''t help that i just changed to a job that amoung other great things, allows me to do freelance work. lots of agency''s don''t allow it.

back to VintageDecoGreatness discussion...

Deco, there is a site where you can design your own stamps. You could put your intials and the date (I am creeped out by putting my photo on anything traveling through post offices etc, but that is just me). You could do something unique to your day, using your colors...just a thought, I have seen it done and it looks amazing. It might be a bit time consuming but I think worth it in the end, and you can also use them for the thank you notes too!

Oh I like those. Where''d you get them? What site was that?

They aren''t barny... but they are very contemporary and fun and bright so I think they are great!

A site I saw advertised in the back of some wedding mag ... www.weddingpaperdivas.com
I''ll warn ya ... the paper is more like card stock than luxe nice feeling stuff. But that was fine with us ...

This was a FAR SECOND choice to those fun boxes full of plastic barn animals we WANTED to use. Sadly Plum Party was still out of those when our drop dead date came & went. However, this was much less DIY work -- the boxes would have just been "holders" for stuff we''d have had to print & cut to teeny tiny size ourselves.
20.gif

So FUN and so perfect! I love them! Especially the wording! They really show what neat people you and your FI are and how cool the wedding will be. I wish I had the b@lls to do something similar, but I think I would have relatives dropping left and right from heart failure. (my side is very WASP-y... things must be done in the proper way, etc etc.)

We are going to have a southern bbq rehersal dinner - I''m not budging on that!

Thanks for posting those for us, Deco!!!

DECO! That sight is FABULOUS! Oh I''m excited... might be able to find something fun and funky!! YAY!

I hate to say it, but my mind keeps going back to the denim jacket idea. I think that would be adorable with your dress for a barn reception. (Maybe not for the ceremony, but for later in the evening.)

I found this one, but am not sure if it would be warm enough with short sleeves. I think a regular (non-shrug) denim jacket would be adorable too.

***LITTLE UPDATE ***

I ordered this jacket during a labor day sale and it came and it''s PRETTY CUTE! I won''t know for sure until I try it with the dress (and try some shrug/sweater/cardigan options too) but ... I KINDA LIKE THIS, and my Mom gave me a big black silk flower exactly like the one in the pix a few pages ago, that I could pin at the shoulder to dress the denim bolero or sweater or shrug up a bit.

Also ... Scintillating turned me on to some SHOES TODAY. And here they are too....

**** AND MORE EXCITING (at least to me) NEWS *****

My mom gave me the metal flower bouquet as a shower gift .. so I OWN IT NOW! Probably gonna be the Sweetheart table arrangement & not my bouquet, but WHATEVER. Now that I have the "sunflower" shoes ... the mini-Sunflower bouquet is a MUST.

and now for my LATEST QUESTION
3.gif

What do you think of this veil??? ... kinda birdcage fabric, but flyaway look. With a low, messy, woven bun with curled tendrils on my face ... or a "bob" if I cut my hair instead.

Or would you rather see a "bubble" type of birdcage veil ... Nose length or Chin???

miniflyawayveil.jpg

Let me run after the bandwagon and leap aboard -- this may be the coolest wedding ever!

I love the veil as shown...there''s something both elegant and tousseled about it that seems to fit everything else you are doing.

And the shoes -- rock on!

Jackie

YAY, Deco''s Mom!!! I am so glad that you get those metal flowers after all!

As for the veil,I LOVE it just as it is. I think the fly-away will look better with the dress and overall style you have going. Don''t get me wrong, I love birdcage veils a bunch, BUT they don''t look right with every dress/style.

That being said, if you go with a bob, the birdcage might look better than the fly-away.

LOVE the jacket-- really LOVE it, like i want one too! i still think the shoes are perfection. and you''ve got your bouquet! it''s all working out! how exciting!! i also love the veil. i think it''s perfect.

And Fata & Jcrow!!!

One more *WIDDLE* purchase on the "outfit front" ... AIIIGH. This was SO STRESSFUL, ''cause it was EBAY. Man, I hope it fits - ''cause it''s EXACTLY what I wanted to wear over the dress for the ceremony itself.

Ta-dah! Check out that BLING!

(Okay I won the auction, but it ain''t here yet. It may be back on ebay unless it fits or stretches effectively!)
