I have recently purchased a diamond engagement ring and plan to propose later this spring. My gf caught me eyeing some diamonds and I really want the proposal to be a surprise. I have money left over from my ring budget so I am think that I will spend that on a decoy christmas gift. I am looking to spend $300 - $600 MAX (I am a 22 yr old grad student). Does anyone have any ideas? Someone in a previous thread suggested something blue and that I come here for ideas....

if your interested my ring is being made and pictured here.

How about some earrings? These are blue and below budget but I don''t know what the quality would be like.

You might find some similar ones on other sites.

I believe a few people from pricescope have bought from this Ebay seller before.
These are pretty.

Did you like any of the options I posted in your OTHER thread?

Sorry for going $50 over budget but I couldn't resist this bracelet, which is bezel set blue topaz. DELISH! I love the bezels. And since it's a bracelet, it can easily be worn with whatever wedding gown she chooses. There is also an aquamarine version of this but it's $990! This one is just as beautiful though.

Ooo! Oooo! I LOOOVE this one....and you''ll come in under budget! It''s a $236 (on sale) pair of blue topaz briolette earrings in white gold, from Ross-Simons:

Yummy, Santa can I have those earrings for Christmas??

You really have a lot to choose from -- but will probably be better sticking to something without diamonds or with small diamond accents, and staying away from emerald, ruby and sapphires. You will also probably be better off with a pendant or earrings.

If you want something blue, you can choose blue topaz. If you prefer another color, I''m sure you can find an affordable gemstone to meet your preference for this particular gift. Anyway, regardless of your choice, you may be able to find something even cheaper than your savings, and be able to use some of that money for your proposal plans, or just keep it in savings.
