Demantiod Custom Engagement Ring Help

Just to add another idea, what about going for something more durable (and possibly a different color) for the engagement ring, and finding a lovely demantoid or emerald for a killer right hand ring (say, as a wedding or anniversary present)?

I agree with the above posters about green stones' durability (my green tourmaline engagement ring is starting to show a couple of teeny scuffs after two years of almost constant wear), but I would also say don't entirely dismiss the idea of green sapphires. There are some lovely ones around if you're prepared to put in the time to hunt for them, and they're certainly a lot tougher than most of the other green options.

I've been eyeing off this one for a little while - I'm not sure if it would be as vivid as the photos suggest, and it may be a little bit bigger than what you're after, but maybe it's worth seeing if the vendor has some photos of it on the hand or has smaller stones from the same source: http://gemhunters.com.au/product/green-sapphire-rectangle/

Mystic,
That is an interesting green sapphire and would merit a follow up for anyone interested in it.

Yeah, it's a quirky one! I don't know if it would look that bright in real life, but I have seen some around in that shade. They're just not very common. It might give the OP some additional options to work with.

The vendor seems responsive as well - they're working on a quote for a pendant for me at the moment, and have been great at replying quickly to queries. I can't really attest to the quality of their stones or workmanship just yet though.
