Hi Everyone,

My new DH was informed today that he is being laid off from Earthlink. Over half of the company''s employees were laid off today. Business has not been good for the company. If anyone has any connections in the Northern VA area for Project Managers with a BS in ME and MBA, we would be grateful for the lead. I just accepted a job that is relocating us to VA but he''s worrying about everything, understandably.

Thanks,
ulualoha

Ulualoha, I don''t have any good connections for your hubby, but I just want to say that I''m sorry to hear about his lay off. All things happen for a reason; I''m hoping that he will end up with a better job that he likes more in the very near future. Big hugs!

Just wanted to say that the situation stinks - I hope he finds something in short time.

ulualoha - I''m so sorry to hear that!
I don''t know much about jobs in VA, but I''ll definitely keep you in mind if I see anything.

So sorry to hear this, hope he finds something soon!!!

Oh, sorry to hear this. Hopefully your DH will find something new and better in no time...meanwhile take advantage of unemployment benefits...if I hear of anything I''ll let ya know, I have a friend who works for Oracle here in IL, long shot but maybe he''ll have a tip. Take care, and keep DH busy so he doesn''t get down in the dumps about it.

Unfortunately I don''t have any job leads, but NoVa is pretty tech friendly, so hopefully something will arise for your husband career-wise.

Sorry to hear this! I hope he finds a perfect job soon!

I''m so sorry! Best wishes for a job that exceeds both your expectations soon!

I''m so sorry to hear this; it''s definitely very difficult to go through a lay-off

I have no connections to help him, but I hope that you can stay strong for each other, and that a much better job comes his way soon.

I am so sorry; I will pray he finds something soon!!! Hang in there.

I'm sorry to hear this --I'm in the same boat as your hubby, I'm being laid off as of Friday. I think the best thing to do is apply as much as possible and stay positive. I'm looking on the brighter side and thinking "well at least I can collect unemployment in the meantime." Not that it's alot but it's something. I'll admit I'm nervous since my FI is a graduate student on a smallish stipend and our wedding is in November but you just can't predict or help these things.

Good luck, I'm sure everything will work out for you guys! I keep thinking, it'll work out...it has to, it just may take a little time.

I''m so sorry to hear about your DH''s lay off. I am in southern VA, but what part of northern VA were you looking at? I know that if you are in the Alexandria area it definitely opens up all of the job markets in DC. I know that isn''t much of a help, but maybe it''s something. It will all work out, don''t stress too much!

Project Managers with a BS in ME and MBA,

This is the resume of one great asset to a new company. He is enabled now to find something even better. Where there is a window shutting there are barn doors slinging wide open. Encourage him with positive support. And an abundance of faith you have in his abilities. Empower him to find a new direction.

With that kind of support, he will end up better off than he began. It is just a new chapter in your life...keep those pages turning.

I''m sorry to hear this, but since you were planning to relocate soon, it will be a fresh start.

NoVa has Verizon and a ton of defense jobs he would probably be qualified for if he can get security clearance. that''s a tough, time consuming process, but worth its weight in gold if he can get it. There are also lots of software companies as well depending on what his interests are. This is a good part of the country to look for a tech job. Good luck to him! and to you!

I''m so sorry about your husband''s job.

My FI was made redundant 2 months ago. He straight away called a charity here in London that sets up projects in the 3rd World for kids with AIDS and got a full-time volunteer position. It''s not in his normal line of work so he''s learning some new skills.

He doesn''t get paid for it, but it gets him out of the house and keeps him busy. It has also made a big impression at interviews that he''s using his time in a positive manner.

I''m sure your DH will find something soon - sounds like he has a very impressive cv.

Good luck!

Ditto this. He will have lots of opportunities with his education-especially in his field, it makes a ton of difference. Layoffs are very stressful though & I hope everything gets smoothed out quickly!

Oh, I feel for you. My husband went through this last year. Sending good vibes for a new position that has more opportunity!

Just wanted to wish you both the best! He sounds like he has a good education and job background, hopefully he will find something soon!

Thanks so much Dee Jay. He was quite positive last night, which caught me off guard but is a very good thing! I got to see his severence package they were quite generous to him allowing him to stay on much longer than some of his coworkers (which I feel sad for them). He has until December 21st. So I think he will be ok. Thank you so much again. I appreciate your support greatly.

Hugs,

Thanks Firegoddess. Even though this is a bad situation, they were quite kind to him and are allowing him to stay until Dec. 21st...so it''s the best it can be in a bad situation. I really appreciate the support.

Thanks so much Isyama....I know everything always work out for the best. At least they are letting his stay on board until Dec 21st. A lot of his coworkers will lose their jobs in two weeks. It''s so terrible. I really appreciate your support...it means so much!

Thanks so much Monarch64...I really appreciate that. You are so kind! He is handling it much better than I ever expected...but your advice is excellent. Sounds like I need to plan a short weekend outing before he dives into his job hunting. Thanks for such great advice!

Thanks for the words of encouragement Onedrop. I wish I could convince my husband of that...he''s not had any responses back for the resumes he has sent so he is discouraged about VA right now. I just wish something would happen for him but I know there is a reason for everything. Thank you again for your support.
