Thank-you ulualoha for your kinds words and offer of help. We live in Minnesota. I am always saying. There is a reason for this. Every job opportunity he does not get means there is something better ahead. It will take time. We are confident that this will all be a bad memory soon. You guys are not alone. Better things will come your way.

We like to laugh at times and say. Man it''s a good thing that we really do love each other and actually like spending time together and get along so well. We could be at each others throats finding blame in small things very quickly if we did not. We know couples who go thru much less and crack under the pressure.

We try to remember even though he is the one looking for employment. It is happening to us. So we face it together and deal with it together.

Hugs back

Hi Lauralu,

You have such a great attitude! I am glad you both are being so strong together! I agree, many folks do fall apart with smaller challenges...having a sense of humor like you said and it sounds like you both have, is the best way to go! I do wish I knew someone in Minnesota that might be able to help but I can recommend the website www.linkedin.com. You can make contacts through the website and it has been instrumental helping my hubby getting interviews. I would highly recommend it. I will keep my eyes open for you. Another suggestion my mom gave me ages ago was temping. I thought she was nuts...but it was the best thing I ever did for myself. It essentially got my career off the ground. I hope that helps, even if it''s just a little. I will continue to think good thoughts for you both!

Hugs,
ulualoha

ulualoha, Networking is smart, contacting people to ask for their ideas, not for jobs. Your husband can call my husband and a friend of mine (female) who are in business here in the DC/northern Virginia area and let them talk with him. They (unlike I) will have plenty of ideas and some of those ideas may become exciting leads. I think your posting here was a good networking move!

Good luck!

ETA: I meant that my friend and my husband are corporate types, not that they are in business together!!! My husband is a former banker (with an MA and an MBA). My friend is in the telecommunications industry. They have in common long, successful careers and a lot of contacts!

Hi Deborah,

Oh that would be so awesome if he could talk to them and thank you so much for your kind words might I add! He has been making use of the website linkedin.com. Is your husband or his friend on there by chance? I certainly would not feel comfortable with you posting any sort of contact info for them on here...but I think linkedin.com is more controlled and protected. What do you think? My husband has worked in the telecommunications industry for quite a while ironically. He recently switched to VoIP (voice over IP)...but he has worked for PacBell/AT & T and Northrop before that. Right now he is working for Earthlink. I certainly would not turn down any help I can get for him! Thank you thank you thank you! I hope to hear from you soon!

Hugs,
Terri

Thanks for sharing your experience, it definately helps me feel better to know that you went through the same thing as I did and had a good outcome.

How is your hubby''s search going?

Hi Sweetpea,

I am here for you if you need to talk. Everything will work out and it will be ok....try not to worry too much as it does not help anything! On our side, the hubby hasn''t searched much lately. He realized that soon there will be many people tromping through his house to look at it for buying it as well as to pack it up and so this weekend he has been sorting through things. It has been wonderful. Hopefully though he will do some looking today. I know once reality hits him he is going to have a harder time than he might think. Uggg...I wish our economy would turn around! I am thinking of you and hoping you are doing well!

Sending you many hugs,
ulualoha

Update: I've heard back from one friend who says his company doesn't have people with your husband's skills at his company (oops, I didn't know!), but I'm still waiting to hear back from two other friends who might be able to help, I hope!
