Hi,

I have made a topic before, but after rereading through it, I realised I had not done enough research and didn't have a clear picture in my head. I have now decided on a setting, with one minor change they can do. Changing from 4 prong to 6 prong.

Now to the centre diamond. I am yet to speak to a gemologist to check 100% eye clean, have simply used the HCA tool (scored 1.7) and inspected the GIA certificate as below. At this early stage, what do people think?

All of this is being delivered including import taxes under $3000.

Thanks from Australia, 2jzzzz.

Ask for the idealscope images for the stone and also a magnified image of the stone itself. Be sure you ask if the stone is eyeclean from the top and sides since the sides can be seen in that type of setting.

Thanks for your reply. I have been assured I will get all of those when they open on Monday 9am New York time. Here in Aus, today is the last of a 4 day weekend so I am hoping the store will open on Monday in New York, is it a Public Holiday there too?

With the small diamonds along the band, do people recommend I improve the colour and sacrifice carat as the diamond is more on display and still have the same level of "bling"?

Do those pictures show a decent diamond? The concern is the middle right and on the magnified image, the yellow tints? Am I right?

Just received an email from them. Appears eye clean and the slight fault at the right will be covered by a prong.

It's hard to tell because different vendors tend to have different setups with their idealscopes/ASETs (background/backlighting), but it looks like a decent diamond, though there appears to be some leakage under the table (I'm referencing the lighter pink areas in the IS and the whiter areas in the ASET). Again, it could just be his setup though.

I think the diamond looks okay. It appears to have some leakage, but it is hard to say how much difference it would make. I would be a little uncomfortable with what appears to be the large feather inclusion. I think if I were buying long distance where it is difficult to return a diamond, I might be more inclined to go with VS2 clarity.

It's a strong ASET. The lighter appearance is because the photographer is using a backlit ASET environment. This results in lighter hues under the table, especially at this size, than the smaller non-backlit ASET photos we see more commonly here. Personally, I'm a fan of backlit ASET. It's a bit harsher - especially with fancies - but the setup reveals windowing better than non-backlit does.

Thanks again for the replies. I have made the bank wire and now await delivery :) Thanks to everyone who has made the choice much easier, I will report back with the proposal story and pictures :-)
