Diamond question

Dear wonderful Pricescopers,


I have been looking for a beautiful diamond for my son's girlfriend and I am so afraid to make a mistake!We would like to spend about 25K to 30K for a round beautiful brilliant. Do you suggest doing this online, used diamond , go to Engagement Rings direct in NYC .This is kind of a big investment so I don't want to mess this up!I also wanted to say that I think one of you could start a diamond locator service ! thank you for all your time and help!

ERD is a great source, or Good Old Gold on Long Island as well which is well worth the drive out.

I think he would like to spend 30k total. I talked about getting a very simple classic setting and then letting her reset the stone in a couple years. I think spending on the stone is an investment.I bought two diamonds online...one from ebay and one from IDNID... and I got some amazing deals!!!But things have really changed as far as all the different scores and light reflection, cut etc...It is not just cut, color,clarity
and cost anymore...so I appreciate any thoughts about what might be considered for the minimum values for a beautiful round brilliant.

James Allen is also in NY. You've got some great options where you are. With your budget you shouldn't have any issues finding a BEAUTIFUL stone and setting.

I agree with your thinking. I just met Chris last week from ERD and he makes the most beautiful settings. If it were me and I was doing it all over again. I would research here on line looking at White flash , Brian Gavin....for size color clarity. Then I would call Good old Guys in Long Island have him pull stones for me and go to New York....but that's just me.

Chris and Mark is also a great option I would speak to them first... I know that their specialty is the setting. When you go to their cut headquarters at 580 5th avenue the have mini tv screens with a classic halo solitaire showing.

Honestly I will let other PS speak with regard to their extent of stones. They probably have access to many as they are literally on top of the diamond district 30th floor actually and probably have access to many stones. If you want the full experience they are an amazing choice as well..
