Diamond Studs different mm sizes side by side

I think the 6 mm stones are a great size on you!

Thanks junebug17! I appreciate your vote! My colored stone studs are just larger than 5 mm. But I think the color makes them pop. The second stud is about 3.2 mm. I sure wish I could take better ear photos!!

I agree with @junebug17 and I bet that it'll only take a couple of weeks for you to become accustomed to that size, and feel perfectly comfortable wearing them every day.

One thing I forgot to mention is that, in addition to size, we also did a color comparison. We found J color stones were absolutely fine for earrings, maybe because they are viewed from further away than a ring. That sure helped the budget!

@mcblohe The bottom stud is 2.45 Total ct weight.
So 1.23 cts for the bottom stud. And the upper stud is .15 ct. About 6.8 mm on the bottom and 3.4 mm on the top a difference of 3.4 mm

@HappyNewLife I found this old photo of yours. She describes the stones as poorly cut. .25 ct each in top with a bezel, .5 ct each in the bottom piercing.
So about 4 mm and 4.75 mm

Here's a visual I found on anther thread. The poster was @Lookinagain and she had it saved in her inspiration folder. It's for multistone rings but it works just perfectly for earring studs too.

Good to know. I am searching for both I and J and not finding much in J. Each time I adjust the clarity and size I get a whole new selection of diamonds to look through. :D

@Loreal Her lower piercing has a .41 tcw set in a martini setting. Her upper piercing is a .25 tcw set in a 4 prong basket.

So about .20 lower and .12 upper and 3.75 mm and 3 mm

My favorite earrings together. I also rarely wear a pair of 1.2 tcw on the bottom. I thought about getting bigger studs than the 1.2 ctw, but I prefer baby earrings as they are more comfy.

Here are some photos that Michelle Adams at Whiteflash took for me and gave me permission to post on PS. They show the size difference between Round Diamonds that are .707 and a .811

The .707 stone is 5.70 to 5.71 mm The .811 stone is 5.97 to 5.99 mm

These photos were taken with a phone and I cropped the first two photos. The third photo shows the stones in ring holders.

I’ve been meaning to post this, but kept forgetting to measure the mm.
Smallest: 2.9mm, part of a ~.20ctw stud pair
Medium: 3.97mm, part of a .50ctw stud pair
Largest: ~5mm, part of 1ctw stud pair

I only have one piercing per ear. The smaller two have/had posts that were uncomfortable to wear, so my ear looks red/swollen after putting them in. The other ear shot is in different lighting, sorry!

Did you ever decide? I really think .75-.80 each is a great size for you.

This thread is super helpful and I think we should keep it going. Here is my contribution. 6.25mm vs 5.7 mm (.93 vs .74 ct stones) 63A3DF71-FA9A-4A45-B07F-4793C3F1C0E6.png
