Okay... so I asked Edward at Wildfish gems for a special order stone. Here''s what I asked for:

Zircon
Color: Canary Yellow-- color grade at least very good
Tone: medium- light
Carat: 6mmx 6mm (1.20-1.50) Zircon''s are very dense.
Shape: Square with cut corners

High brilliancy (90%)
Depth around 68- 76 %
Color zoning: None
No inclusions
medium-light color tone
Color grade- very good
The most important thing is that the cut and clarity be as fine as possible. Brilliant cut, please. No step cuts ( My diamond is an asscher and I think Zircon''s look best with brilliant cuts). do want it to be a cut that ... well, I want it to look as much like a canary diamond as possible, a modifed brilliant cut, square that isn''t a princess (cut corners). I love and adore the Lucida and The Dream cut diamonds... I''m sure you know of many different brilliant cuts, and as long isn''t not too chaotic a cut (radiant) I''ll be happy with it.

The budet I gave him was $300-350.

How did I do?Is there anything I forgot (or didn''t know) to mention? What do you all think? THANKS!

i think so, but then i''m not an expert.

specifying depth on a color stone to fit a setting makes sense. otherwise, depth is often necessary to get color.

inclusions are difficult to get away from without paying lots of bucks. an ''eye clean'' stone might also be worth considering: not all inclusions are visible to the unaided eye.

congratulations on knowing what you want. can''t wait to see pictures of what you purchase.

sounds good to me.
Might be a little hard to find.
The yellow zircons tend to run goldish rather then bright yellow.
but with some hunting close to the source I think its do able.

Okay. To be honest, I haven''t looked at too many fine quality canary diamonds. And I''ve only seen a couple of Zircon''s in person (hard to find). So I''m not sure I can tell the difference between yellowish and goldish. I''m assuming gold has more of a brownish look than straight yellow. I''ll make sure to post pictures of the finished stone to get your honest opinions-- he has a return/ refund policy... although he reserves the right to try to replace to make the customer happy.

you''ll know yellow from gold! it will be obvious....trust your eyes. what''s important is that you know what you want and you''re going to be particular until you get what you want. looking forward to pictures!
