you all may have known this already, but i am all excited because i just discovered that you can paste pictures directly into your posts in rich text, without uploading or attaching them!!! AND you can paste in a bunch of them at once! (somehow when i did it above they ended up next to each other instead of one on top of the other, sorry--i'm still learning!) this is so freakin exciting to me.

check out one of its handy usages here. (second to last post) it's cool to be able to write in between the pictures and put a bunch in at once. did everyone know about this but me?

Hit the return button after each paste and they'll go top to bottom. You can go back and edit to test

dammit, i am the last to know.

sorry guys.

hi, i'm a total loser!
wavey.gif

Hmmmm... I guess I'm a double loser. Not only did I not know, I can't get it to work!

Hmmmm... did that do it?

Interesting. Let's see if that works now...

Thanks reena!!!

I'm with Quartaer. I can't get it to work.

I think I finally figured it out.

I don't know if this is how reena did it, but I clicked on the little image icon in rich text mode

Then selected my image and copied the path (you can also use the upload function, browse for the file, then just cut it out of there and paste it in at the top).

Cool, ey? Now if I could only figure out how to get it to save my font and color choices...

I think it depends upon where you copy the picture. I can get it to work if I copy from a web page, like below. I can't get it to work if the pic is stored on my hard drive.

I copied mine from my hard drive, but I did have to use the little image insert interface. I couldn't just copy and paste like I did with this one...

Wow, reena, I'm not a loser any more! Now I'm just a GEEK!!!/idealbb/images/smilies/errrr.gif

I gotta try this...
diamond_ring_514.jpg

hey... am I doing it right? let me put another pic on there and see what happens...

diamond_ring_539.jpg

DID

omg... omg... Reena, IT WORKED... IT WORKED....

thank you for discovering this! this is soooo much easier than "upload".
appl.gif

Opps , i just tried it. I guess I need more practice. sorry

Gee... thanks everyone for not telling me you couldn't see my pics! I feel like I've been walking around with broccoli in my teeth all day, smiling away like an idjit!
rodent.gif

OK. I've gotta try this again. Please let me know if you don't see the ridiculous picture of my dog!

peekaboo.jpg

If this works, I'll be thrilled....

Nope, guess I'm still tecnologically inept. Sigh. I always wanted to post pics of my ring, but I don't think I'll ever figure it out.

The reson it doesn't work when you copy from your hard drive, I believe, is that the picture has to be uploaded on to a web server for all of us to see it. Pics that are already on the web (pasted from another site) correspond to web addresses that "host" the picture on that website's server. When you upload to Pricescope, you are adding it to the PS server. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

For example:

Your pic from your hard drive that does not show up points to this address
"file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Marijke/Desktop/peekaboo.jpg"

and the pic that shows up points to this address
"http://www.dahneandweinstein.com/general/items/images/A5319.jpg"

Our computers can not access your home computer, but we can access the websites from where you get the photos. Our computer has to be able to get to the place where the picture originally resides.

Does that make sense?

OMG, first of all im glad it is NOT just me. and second, sorry for being a total A$$ and posting that without writing how i did it and then heading off to bloomingdale's for 3 hours. BAD reena.

all i did was to start a post, get into rich text mode, open a new internet window, find a picture, right click on it and hit copy, then back to this window, click in the typing box and hit paste (control + V for me). or, click in the box and click on the little W icon above it. that should work.

Kaili- you're totally right. I didn't realize what was going on, because of course I can see the images since the path makes sense here! DUH!!! I feel like such a heel

Anyway, I guess this works nicely for pulling images quickly from other sites, but not as I was hoping it would for my own pics. Those I'll just have to upload, like this...

Which means, pics that are already viewable over the Internet (including previous pictures uploaded on PS) is linkable i.e. able to be shown without uploading again.

The beginning address of the pic will be that 'http://' thing..

For instance:
or
'http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/files/niwaka_stillness_e-ring.jpg'

However, unless you set up so that things on your computer is publicly accessible via the Internet, pics that are stored in your hard drive is not viewable. Because as Kaili said, we cannot access your computer, i.e. local file server. This is what the
'file:///C:/{blah}' means.

I hope this helps a little bit more.

Thanks katbadness... Yep, I wish I had realized it sooner. That's what happens when I haven't had my morning coffee yet. Duh.
