Do not buy Russian diamonds

Hi,

I don't think India has agreed to sanctions against Russia. India was a holdout.

Annette

The banking obstacles may be hampering trading, even if India has not agreed to the sanctions. I suppose with that much at stake, if they want to build a workaround they will be able to. And maybe they should be allowed to.

The willingness of civil society to share the burden of stopping this ghastly war is admirable. As long as those people who are most vulnerable are not shouldering a disproportionate amount of the economic pain.

....is that called human hypocrisy? Quite simple, no?

Stopping the banks from processing the money is the most effective way of stopping sales of Russian rough.
Those that try and circumvent it have a very good chance of ending up on the wrong side of history.
It will greatly accelerate the acceptance of mmd as the mined industry faces shortages and turmoil.
It is going to take years to roll back everything once the current war is over in Ukraine.
If Russia backs down and leaves it will be at least a decade to roll them back.
If Russia tries to keep any of it or adds more troops or otherwise extends the war then its going to be several decades before Russia is back in the good graces of the world.
