I would LOVE to know the colour too! Thing is, she doesn''t have a clue and/or is full of um, rubbish. :) The paperwork she got with it from the vendor (THEIR appraisal of the stone, not an independent one) is always ''in the safe''.. and she always says something like "Oh, I think it''s a D, would that be right?".

Clearly it''s noooooowhere near a D. :)

(What breaks my heart is that I could have got her a gorgeous, 3 carat AGS0 Idea cut RB for what she piad for that stone. She also took it out of the lovely original vintage setting it was in & had it re-set in a modern, platinum ring with RB sidestones... so sad).

I notice the colour in her stone all the time, even when she''s just wearing it... face up and from the side. The new setting doesn''t flatter the colour either.

I have big clarity issues too.... great vision is a bit of a curse when it comes to diamonds! :)

BTW, I was amazed to read that your lovely RB is a K! Do you have any pics of it from the side, or even any angle where it shows colour? It looks so amazingly white - does it always look like that?

Coati - I probably show throw out all my dairy products out of the frig - the door was open a lot today while I was playing with my camera in there.

Thanks again Cleo! Yes, it pretty much always looks white. It''s such a lively stone--I love it! It''s really hard for my eye to grab onto it''s K color, because it never stops moving. I''ll try to take some photos of the pavillion for you, and post them in another thread.

ooo I love antique stones in antique settings. She moved it to a contemporary style setting? Well, different strokes, I suppose. As long as she loves it..

Maybe you can help her shop next time!

Your stone is very lovely Cleo. I love your avatar.

Thankyou for your lovely compliment. :) My stone is being re-set at the moment (not happy with original workmanship on prongs) so I am desperately missing my diamond!

I really look forward to seeing your pavillion pics - thankyou! When you post them, I would be interested to know if your diamond is a ''patterned'' stone, like an H&A?

Very sad about that original, antique setting. Sadly she has a little more money than class...

(Recently ripped up an original tiled floor from her house (probably 200 years old) and replaced it with marble tiling). Things like that should be illegal.

Let''s hope she speaks to me before she buys any more diamonds! LOL! :)

Storm, that is very deep for this time on a Sunday night (11.30pm here in England)!

You make an excellent point - but the fact remains that despite the reflections and sparkle presented by diamonds (and mirrors!) they do have their own intrinsic colour when you can see beyond those.

Ancient mirrors have been made from highly polished pieces of gold, silver and bronze - and whilst each of those would give reflections, the mirrors would still have different colours of themselves.

Coatimundi - I wish I could only see sparkle and not colour! My sister in law has a 2ct OEC (bought for far too much money, uncerted and it has a chip!!!

) . I see her diamond, and all I see is its yellow tint... almost like the colour of the Sauvignon blanc I''ve just been drinking... and I just think, ewwww. :)

Having said that, I am often surprised by the colours of some of the PSers diamonds, and how much whiter they seem than their grading would suggest - another reason to get great cuts!

aaaahhhh yes...... but.....
the better the mirror reflects the less of its own tint shows.
well cut RB == modern mirror
bad cut RB == polished tin mirror

Marcyc--gorgeous shot!
I notice that the fridge creates a smooth and creamy/pastel colored effect. Do you notice this too?

*COOL* shot Marcyc

LOL! If I had any photoshop skills (trust me mine are very limited) I''d add some gems and diamonds inside the refrigerator photo.
