Wooo question. I have always worn my rings HUGE. Everytime I buy a ring the jeweler says I am ordering it to big. I have always worried about swelling and not being able to get them on. Well finally the jewler talked me into have my rings sized correctly. I have always ordered a 6 and they talked me into a 4.5 .... oh my. Here is my dillima. When I got them back I had have to admit once I got the ring over my knuckle they fit way better.. actually staying up right. Well I am just going thru my PMS cycle and notice it is really to get them on....

Should I have them sized up a little. Will it be like this during the summer. I take my rings off everyday so It is a noticable struggle after eating salty foods.

This is unfortunately a common problem for many women. While it is normal for our fingers to be a little larger in the summer and a little smaller in the winter, especially in the northern parts of the country, some will have more problem with it than others. Also, some will swell and shrink a half to full size during their menstrual cycle. Arthritis can also enlarge knuckles permanently, leaving you with a ring that is hard to get on that spins completely upside down once on.

There are shanks made that can open and close to make it easier to get on and off, but they are all pretty expensive so most of my clients like to avoid them as long as possible.

I have this problem at times and as Sir Wink says, it is very common for many reasons in women. Maybe get one ring sized up by half a size and see how you get on, bear in mind different thickness shanks may fit differently to thinner ones - different rings if you have thicker and thinner shank sizes might need leaving as they are or a different approach. Windex can be useful if you feel panicky that a ring is stuck, spray finger liberally with blue Windex, it will help the ring to ease off.

Thank you for your help. I just washed my hands with cold water and my rings are laying to the side. I think the size is ok but those knuckles just wear me out. I never thought of windex. They way I have always had mine sized is so it just slid losely over my knuck then it layed on my pinky all the time. This way seems better but it also scares me when they are tough to get on and off

Do most women wear them a little tighter?

Woo one more question.... should rings stay upright on our rings????

Woo one more question.... should rings stay upright on our rings????
I dunno - I always feel more elegant when my rings hang down but it also gets in the way which is annoying...

my ring is half a size bigger, if fit right when I ordered but I''ve lost weight so now it''s big but I really like it that way..

I think it is best if rings do stay upright, saves knocking them about, you are more conscious of where the diamond is if it sits in the middle of the finger. A friend was advised to use blue Windex for her toe ring which she couldn't remove and it works like a charm. I have used it too when my fingers are bloated. Mine get sausagey in the middles then much smaller where the ring sits. It seems many do have this problem, either with fingers bloating and varying sizes or large knuckles with a much smaller area for the ring to sit. It is a case of trial and error to see what works for you. I always think rings with thicker shanks are the most problematic to size as they can fit tighter than thin shanks in my opinion. Personally I feel that a diamond is safer if you can get it to sit in the middle of the finger, but getting it to stay there is a whole different ball of wax...

I like mine on the loose side, can''t stand it if it''s too tight.

Woo, also, if you don''t already, when they''re tight and you''re trying to get them off, hold your hand with your finger tips toward the ceiling, the blood will drain out a bit and that helps.

That is a common concern. I''m surprised though that, knowing you usually wear a 6, that the jeweler would go THAT much smaller. I could see a 5 or 5.5. When I just got my new ring the jeweler recommended getting the ring to fit my finger since the weight of the setting and diamond would make it fall over (rest on my pinky). I was so worried the entire time that when it came back it would be too small but it actually fits just right. It''s a little loose now because of the weather but I figure it will be just right over the summer and after salty meals.

Woooooooooo I think I may have them sized up to a 5. I am worried about summer time. Winter is here and they feel a little snug so by summer I may be unhappy. Thank you so much :)

Coming from someone who as had multiple sizing issues, it sounds like you should go up a 1/2 or 3/8 size. This would keep your diamond upright (which is what I like anyway).

When I ordered my new rings, I said I wanted a larger size (5 1/2) because my old ones were a little tight in the summer but the jeweler insisted that I get the 5 1/4 or 5 3/8 because they did not appear tight to him! So unassertive me went along with him against my better judgement. Oddly, one of the rings was sized at 5 1/2 which is what I really wanted, and the other was sized at 5 1/4, which was tighter than I wanted. So I had to take it back to get it the size I knew I wanted in the first place!! Girls, we know our fingers and what size is most comfortable, so don''t let someone else talk you into the wrong size!

I live in the south and my fingers are more swollen in the summer. The week the weather turned cool, my rings immediately became loose. So my advice is to never size down in the winter, because you need to know how big your fingers are in the summer to comfortably size them. I absolutely hate my rings tight and would rather them be a little loose in the winter than too tight in the summer.

I''m a size 6 but my rings aer a 6 3/8''s because I like them just a bit loose, or when my fingers swell. I hate tight rings!

Wooooo just like you I had a feeling it was going to be to tight but I went along with it. My ering is a heavy platinum so it is really hard to push over that knuckle.

ERRRRRRRRRRRRR

Hi! My finger size changes every 5 minutes. If a ring won''t go on my ring finger, I put it on my pinky finger until my ring finger shrinks. My "normal" size is about a 6.

I wear a 6 but had mine sized down to a 4.5 at one point--went into a panic when it didn''t come off very easily. Long story short, I realized I like it loose and just kept it at 6. I find that stacking helps-wr,er,eternity--it still swings to the side though. I do seem to have room for one more on there for it to definitely not move...lol hmmmm, I''ll have to think on it....

I''m normally a 4-3/4 or a 5, depending on the width of the ring. When I had my eternity band made the jeweler INSISTED I was a 4-1/2 and so now I have an e-band that can''t be sized that only fits on my left hand and only on cold days. GO BIGGER.

When I bought the platinum ring that I wear on my right hand I told my jeweler that I wear a 5 1/2 on that hand. He told me that I measured a 5 1/4 and of course I let him size it that way. It is also a little wider than my other rings and I DO have to push it over my knuckle! In fact I had it resized to a 5 1/2 and it is still difficult to get it on and off in the summer. I have just been too lazy to have it sized again. Windex does work well though.

I type all day on a computer, so a loose ring drives me nuts because it spins all the way upside down on my finger as I type. When that happens I have to take it off and put it aside increasing the likelihood of loosing or forgetting my ring altogether, so I like to wear my rings snug.

If I''m buying a ring that is going on a finger that I''ve already been wearing a ring on, I size it so that it goes snuggly over my knuckle but sits just right on my finger (no spin, sits upright).

When I bought my right hand ring, I had never worn a ring on that hand before so I sized it so that the ring slid snuggly over my knuckle and was just ever so slightly tight on my finger.

I was a little concerned about it being too tight, but my jeweler said wear it for a week or two, if it''s still snug I''ll resize it for free. Well sure enough after about a week or two, my finger "flesh" molded to where the ring sits on my finger, and my ring now fits perfectly. If I had gone with a size the slid easily over my knuckle the ring would have been too big and would definitely slide.

I did use the sizers that were thick like my band rather than the thin sizers. I think the thicker the ring, the more careful you have to be to size it right. My rings have shanks that tend to be more like a band than a solitaire.

My left hand ring finger is size 5-1/2 and my right hand ring finger is 5-3/4.

I take my rings off when I get home, I don''t sleep in them so I never have to deal with morning "puffy" fingers.

I only had a problem with the heat swelling my fingers when visiting family who live in a very humid area. I just switched my right hand ring onto my left and didn''t wear my wedding ring for a couple of days.

Woo, don't you have two sets? Maybe have two sets with two sizes?

Also, you have pretty substantial rings, and no one is going to think you aren't married, so maybe have the e-ring one size and the w-band another size.

I always prefer a little loose to a little snug. Maybe let ''em out a little bit.

As long as I haven''t lost blood flow to my fingertip, I prefer rings a bit snug. I''ve had rings fall off my finger when my hands have gotten cold, so I much prefer to have to shove it past my knuckle to get it on. And your flesh does tend to conform to the ring after a bit. Although I must say that my ring only comes off to get cleaned, so that probably makes a big difference in our attitudes.

Windex is a serious lifesaver. It makes a huge difference in getting a ring off or even on, plus all it does is make the diamond shinier!

WOOOO Thank you all so much!!!! I really appreciate all of the feedback. I definately think I going to have to go a little larger. They fit good but really feel as soon as it warms up I am in trouble....I have to admit I like a little spin too.... WOOOOO I do have a substantial ring so it is hard to push :)
