Actually, having thought about it, I have a few holy grails and lost 2. Here they are:

1. My gorgeous, pale yellow 4ct EC with tapered bullets in 18kt




2. The best 3 stone I'll ever own - perhaps not *quite* holy grail worthy, but VERY close. 3.05ct, .95ct and .96ct - all F VS2.



3. One of my all time favorite rings. My gem quality opal with .82ctw of diamonds, in 18kt yellow gold:





4. The first one that got away...because I pulled it apart. D'oh! 3.4ct H VS1 ACA with approx 1.5ctw of side diamonds. 18kt yellow. I sold this one and have regretted it mightily!





5. My diamond and ruby 5 stone in rose gold. The color in this is INTENSE! The diamonds are gorgeous. The setting is from 1910 and is just perfect!



6. A true and absolute holy grail - and probably the diamond closest to a holy grail that I'll ever own. An S-T 5+ct OEC. In a temp setting till I could figure out what to do with it. I think if I'd gotten it into a permanent home, I'd still have it to this day. I cannot believe I sold this beauty...because I thought it was too big!! D'oh!!! Worst excuse EVER to sell a diamond!!

Your #4 setting is gorgeous, That is so my style. Was this custom made?

Love this thread! This is my "if I ever win the lottery/costs more than my first house" Holy Grail! A pear shaped fancy yellow diamond ring with a halo! Similar to this one by JR Dunn that sells for $145,000! If I save my money and invest well, maybe someday I can design/make/own a more "reasonable" size, like the one currently for sale on First Dibs

I'm honestly not sure I have an HG. There are so many looks and styles that have their own HG options IMHO. HG solitaire, HG jedi spinel, HG 3-stone, etc. I could never decide on just one.

I guess one type of diamond HG that I am 99% sure I'll never have the pleasure of owning is an octavia ring. Super hard to find and always outside of my budget but the cut floors me every time.

Another diamond HG for me is from a PSer although I don't remember the user name (apologies)! It's the ring that "brought" me to PS after randomly seeing pics from a google search. Champagne colored diamond in a VC emilya. Just stunning.

This is an interesting question, and I’ve come to the realization that an HG can’t exist for me. I simply love too many different things. I struggled terribly whilst deciding on my replacement ring when mine went missing. I first wanted an ACA, and then a warm OMC, and I finally landed on a D color antique emerald - a cut I NEVER considered for myself. This ring SHOULD be my HG without a doubt, but I still find myself lusting over stones I see here and on Instagram. I absolutely adore my stunning piece of art, but I don’t think I could ever claim any single piece as my HG!!

I agree that there isn't just one holy grain ring for me. But this one is definitely in my top 3. Absolutely gorgeous! I very much love my antique asscher ring and it would be in my top 10 maybe. But this is magnificent!
