Do you think this is a pretty setting idea (marquis stone in a gypsy setting)?

@Muluver
i can certainly try!

for clarification, are you meaning filling in the split shank, but leaving the prongs in open space, or filing area around them as well?

I am tagging @Rfisher Because I’m thinking of this project again. But I’m just thinking of leaving the stone north south but filling the empty space with gold. So it looks like a signet or flush style ring just keeping the stone in the same orientation. Rfisher is there anyway you might use your Photoshop skills to do this on these pictures? So I can visualize?

well that definatly has my vote !

To answer your original question - yes I think it will look pretty.
Although my renditions leave a lot to be desired in illustrating that belief just so. LOL.

Googling gypsy set marquise is interesting. Seem to get some that are reminiscent of Utroba Cave (!!!) - so I guess beware going to anything that looks like a double bezel?

Simply drawing in/ filling in the split shank area and around the prongs didn't really mesh or represent metal well -
So this is about the best I could mange with cut/paste of other rings images found with different metal textures/tones, and made to similar outline footprint shape of your current ring - except the last one which is modified from one on VB’s site.

I hope something in this helps you find something towards what you’ll love -
Or at a minimum help you decide what you definitely don’t want. :)

Hahaha yes marquis can look quite vaginal lol which I want to avoid. I actually like the look of the first one you did - it does help to visualize!!

I don't think marquise get enough love these days! It really is a flattering shape on the hand. Perhaps adding some accent diamonds on the shoulders might help with the issue @Rfisher hilariously pointed out.

YMMV but my concern would be possibly not being happy with it anyway, when custom work is so expensive. Do you typically wear small rings?

Otherwise, I could see it being cute as a pinky ring or stacker, or set in a snake ring or part of the stone design in a pendant or whatever, as others have shown. I could also see it put in a bale or clasp, a component to add sparkle to a larger piece. Either way, can’t wait to see what you come up with! :)

Loving the last one! You can always punch it up with engraving too!

I don’t usually wear dainty rings but I love signet rings and yellow gold. I did think of making it for the pinky even. But I’ve had this ring forever and don’t wear it and just trying to think of a way to change it so I will since I most likely won’t sell bc of sentimental reasons.

I really like the second one with the horizontal line.

There are a lot of cool pendant options… vertical basket, horizontal basket, slide either orientation, horizontal fixed.

I like the one with the horizontal line too. I might try softening the pointed ends a bit and widening the shank a tiny bit to see what that looked like. More like what @Rfisher shows in post 34 (without the bezel......)
The idea of engraving is also interesting.

Good point.
Here’s that one with the original, plus two different possibilities what it may look like with one or the other bezel removed.

I think the middle one with horizontal lines added might be interesting. or adding a very small round stone on either side.

Ok now all I see is vajayjay lol! Maybe I just size it for my pinky and call it a day.

well, that's certainly an easy and inexpensive fix and if you will wear it that way, I'd do that. You can always reset it later if you figure out the way you'd like it set that's different that what you have now. The goal is to get it out of the box and onto your hand!
But I still think you could set it east/west into more of a dome ring (lower profile) and that it would look good.

Yes my original thought was east west in the very first Inspo pictures at the beginning of the post. But some people were saying that the marquis is very skinny and might not look so great east west. Anyway I’ll probably still think on it and come back in a few more months knowing me! I revisited this idea because I am on the lookout for a Gypsy but nothing is fitting the bill at the moment so that’s the reason why I’m thinking of this potential project again.

I’m still watching for a three stone Gypsy for you. So many are large sizes though.

Maybe a diagonal bezel? Ultra modern vibes

I saw one that almost fit the bill but it was rose gold. I really want yellow. I tried to google to see if rose can be dipped or plated yellow, but couldn’t find a good answer. Idk if that’s a thing. And also seems to be forcing a solution. So I wait. Nothing wrong with that though!

I love it the way it is, the other ones just look like the big V. Oh if only DF was here to comment!

You seem to lean a bit contemporary, what about something like this?

You could go at an angle like this.
