THIS!I don't have a problem wearing my ring to the beach, but I leave it at home if I'll be swimming in the ocean. The heat makes my fingers swell, but they shrink waaaay down once I'm in cold saltwater.
You know why those guys are always out at the beach with their metal detectors at low tide?![]()
This 100% my original e-ring and band were stolen after being left for appx 30 seconds by a sink. Never again do I take them off.Great thread! Back when I got engaged a woman told me "Better to have a dirty ring than no ring" when we were discussing what to do with rings when washing hands in a public bathroom. I still hear her saying that when I'm washing my hands!
So I've decided to wear it at the beach. I want to look at it and it will be insured. I like to live dangerously.![]()
I never take my rings off. I just clean them daily. Hot tub, pool, beach, gym, shower, sleeping. I’ve been married almost 24yrs. Look like new. Even if they didn’t, I’d just have them repaired. That’s just me.
Those silicone rings are perfect for so many situations. My daughter is a paramedic and won’t even wear her gold wedding band on duty, due to all the heavy lifting and equipment. She doesn’t want to get it all scratched up or bent, or even smashed onto her finger. She wears silicone bands and they work great.I used to, but last summer we were in the ocean and it was MUCH colder and rougher than usual. I was lucky and only lost my sunglasses. Which ticked me off since they were new. But. I remember feeling how my rings were all of a sudden very loose in the cold water and making a fist so they would stay on. After losing my sunglasses, my next thought was, “you are so lucky that wasn’t your engagement ring.”
For the past couple of years I have had silicone rings I wear to work out. They are super comfortable, especially when your fingers swell. So I’ve just been wearing those to the beach and pool. Enso makes really cute ones, including ones that look just like metal. Everyone I’ve shown mine to has been shocked it was not my actual wedding band.
I wear mine too. Insured. Problem with jeweler’s mutual is that I think they would replace it to same clarity and color, but what about cut? What if you have a super ideal cut? We all know you can buy a 5 ct for $60k or $100k. I have always been confused about this. All my jewelry is insured with them.
I wore my Rolex, bracelet and rings in water in Caribbean. But I don’t swim long and keep my fingers pretty tight and aware. I usually just go in to soak. Leaving the engagement ring in a hotel room freaks me out more or in their little safe.
Where do you leave your diamond when traveling? Hotel safe? Any manager can open it if you forget code which scares me, especially if a staff member saw you wearing jewelry then going out without it.
