Do you wear your rings "loose"?

Yes, makes sense! I have more padding under my finger nearer my knuckle, and a when I wear more than one ring, the ring on top gets pushed to this ''fatter'' part.

This is how my fingers are shaped, too - I think this is why I''m sized smaller at the jewelry store. Also, the little "fat pad" below my knuckle is what allows me to wear my rings looser without worrying they will fall off.

Reading the responses, I think it''s not only finger size but finger shape that makes rings comfortable/uncomfortable.

DH has some extra high ''webbing'' between his fingers so he has really limited space he can comfortably wear a ring. He can''t wear a ring that is wide all the way around like traditional wedding bands (unless it was really narrow - more of a typical woman''s width ring). His has to taper around the sides and to the back to about 3mm or so.

How coincidental is that? My husband has the same problem. He has really high webbing, I call him aquaman! He wears a 6mm ring, but it practically goes up to his knuckle!

Ha ha! I know...I tease DH that he should have gone into swimming competitively with those flippers!

Last night before going to bed I was trying on different rings again and realized that I also have too much webbing..... do you they they have a surgery for that? :P

Yes!! I hate finger muffin top. Just looking at people''s fingers when they have too-tight rings makes me queasy with panic. Seriously.

So totally +1! Mine are loose. I have to remember to make fists when using those high-powered hand dryers to not loose them. I also have to be careful in the winter to take off my gloves slowly and carefully. I probably wear them 1/4 size too big, but I have no knuckle at all to catch them.

I wear my rings very slightly loose - they used to be so loose they would fall off if I shook my hand, but I got very nervous after a couple months wearing them like that so now they''re down to a size 4. I''m not sure why, but some rings I wear a 4.5 and some a 4 and they all fit differently.

My stepmother lost her engagement ring while trying on clothing at a store shortly after she got engaged. She thought the ring was fine (a little loose, but she liked it that way) and then suddenly she realized the ring was gone. It had fallen off while she was trying on clothes. Luckily my father had insurance on the ring and was able to replace it...

So to all you ladies who wear your rings loose (including me to some extent) be careful!!

Do not like the look of finger pudge! I used to hate my slightly knobby knuckles but I need a larger size to get over them so my rings are relatively loose but are safe because they can''t get past the knuckle easily. My poor daughter has the same problem some have, wider at the base then the knuckle so if the ring is loose at all it can slide right off!!! Big bummer!

Size 3.5, I plan to wear three rings on my ring finger eventually - Ering, wband, and anni., so Ering and wb are sized to 4.25 to make sure everything stays nice and loose.

I can''t stand the look or feel of too-tight rings

I''m the opposite. I recently went down about 3 lbs and this was just enough to make my e ring start spinning ever so slightly. It''s driving me nuts! I''d rather have it come off slowly and have to twist gently than have it spin.

I wear my rings just right - a tiny little bit tight but not too tight, comfortable enough but not too big. I almost lost a ring also, and dislike it when rings spin, and have now had all my rings (re)sized to what I believe are the best fit (having tried many years to figure out my true sizes, LOL).

So now, I wear a 4 3/8 on my LH and a 4 7/8 on my RH. A 4.25 would be too tight on my left and a 4.50 too loose. Same for my RH.

HI:

My ER spins as it is a big top heavy--but I don''t mind it that way. I have often though about having the shank thickened--that would decrease the movement.

cheers--Sharon

My ering is not loose when my fingers are swollen at all, but when it''s chilly out they spin a bit. It''s not enough for them to slip over my knuckles, though, so I''m not worried.

My rings are really loose. My ring size is 4.5 but I ordered 4.75 because I was so afraid of them being tight. I hate the look of tight rings. Most of the time, they fit great but when I'm cold, they slide off really easily. I've actually had my engagement ring fly off my hand at work pretty often.

I am quite surprised how many do wear their rings loose! In some cases quite so.

Thanks all for responding!

Eek! Not sure I want flying rings!

I have to whip my hand pretty fiercely to get the ring I currently wear to fling off. It hurts my hand to do it.

The last couple days my 5.5 ring has been fitting PERFECTLY with the warmer weather. Slides on easy, feels comfortable but does not spin at all unless I do so with my other hand. I am a little more nervous that the extra 1/4 size will make it a bit easier to fall off over my knuckle, but if I get a bit worried about it I will stick some moleskin in the shank as I do now time to time...gives it a bit more security and is soft so accommodates swelling (and easily stripped out if it is too much!). I almost guarantee if I wear just the band I will have to do that anyway. And I definitely won't be wearing them when I am in water or anything!

I do wear mine a little loose. I usually order a size 5 when I really wear a 4.5 (4.25 on my left). I live in a warm climate, so in the wintertime my rings are a little loose and spin (I''ll stack with a band then) and in the summer they fit much better. I think I do so because my mom has always told me to size up a little since I was younger; she doesn''t like the idea of having a ring indent in the finger and thinks its a good idea to leave room in case of weight gain.
