Do you WORDLE?

Could someone pls put up the link for Connections? Thank you!

You're very welcome. Let me know what you think of Connections. As I mentioned above, I find it frustrating. Sometimes it seems easy to me and at other times, I can't figure out much.

So I read an article recently from the New York Times people that put connections together. The word placement in the grid is intentional. Also, they do have categories that they associate with the yellow, green, blue and purple. I found that the yellow and green are usually the easiest to get and the purple, the most difficult but sometimes I get that one first. it all depends if there’s an outlier word that you can figure out quickly.
I’ve tried letter boxed a couple times and I like it. It’s definitely something I think I’ll get better as I go on.

Turns out Connections is similar to Red Herring, a game (app) that I play off and on.

<polite cough>

I should probably read the instructions. Because I have no idea what I'm doing here...

I especially liked today’s Connections game.

Connections
Puzzle #276

I'm still enjoying Wordle, and typically solve it in four tries, with the next most success at three tries!

Just tried Connections, and that's really fun! I got the purple row first, which was very straight forward today. Hah! This looks like it will be a fun addition to Wordle, and Spelling Bee.

Thank you for the link!

I find Connections odd. Some days it's pretty straight forward, but other times, the connections seem a bit off to me after the first two.

Who all is still Wordling? I still play almost every day and share my game with one of my brothers, and with a long-distance friend. I like the keeping in touch aspect of it as much as I like the challenge! And I still like to change up my opening word each day.

Anyhow..,

Today’s game was game no. 1,215. The NYT has 2,309 “correct” answers in its data base (although there are over 13,000 acceptable guesses). That means that over half of the common words that could win the game have already been used, and won’t - win the game, that is. So a week or two ago, I started checking my proposed opening word against a list of previous winning words. I’ve only gotten a “hole in one” once before, but hope springs eternal! I sometimes do, sometimes don’t. Today I checked my first and second guesses, but not my third. If I had checked my third guess, I would have seen that it had been used before (insert dope slap here) and might have completed today’s puzzle in three rather than four.

Oh well. It is just a game, but I am competitive enough that I don’t like losing. And when half of all possible answers are automatically wrong just because they’ve been used before, it seems silly not make sure you’re not playing one of those words! On the other hand, there’s also the possibility by not using previous answers, I’m eliminating strategically strong words… hmm….

Anyhow, here’s one place to find a list of previously used words, in case anyone is interested!

I'm still doing it! The family (five of us, my "adopted" fam)) do it every day and share with everyone else. I also quordle with "sister" #2. "Dad" got a hole in one once and likes to trot the screen shot out every now and then.

Interesting about being able to check previous answers... but honestly, I'll never do it LOL.

I still do Wordle as well! I was on a roll a couple weeks ago, where I was consistently in the two-to-three line range! Screenshots of all of those!

I wouldn’t check past words, ‘cause I’m too lazy. Wordle is my fun, in-the-moment time so I prefer to keep it very simple. Also do the very fun “Connections” game.

I do it every day as well. I got it right on the first try just once. I was using the same starting word everyday and it finally came up. Then I switched to a new opening word which I use every day. So I should check out whether it's already been the word, because I could wasting some time.....

Edited to add, it has been the word of the day, so now perhaps find a new one.... but then there is what @VRBeauty said about strong words.

I don't want to change my word everyday so I'll find a new one that hasn't been "it" yet and start with that now. thanks for the heads up on that.

I also do spelling bee, and letter boxed and connections. Only the free versions. I like connections the least though. I find some of them so out there I could never figure it out.

Question... do you all use the same word every day? I actually don't, I just pick something that makes sense at the moment. So like if it's raining I'll use "rainy," or if I hear kids outside I'll use "child," that sort of thing. Am I weird?!?

well, I have been. The first word I used everyday came up as the first answer. So then I switched. But now that I've seen what @VRBeauty posted, I'm looking for a different new work as my "second" new word was already used. So I'm thinking of one and looking at the list to make sure it hasn't been used yet.

Interesting! One of the "family" members is very competitive and surgical in the process. I'm just happy not to "phew" out!

I like to change mine up - like you, I often use a word that’s “inspired” by what’s going on around me, or one that pops into my head. (Unfortunately I used “smoky” quite a bit last summer!). But from time to time I’ll change a letter or two in my “inspired” word to make it a stronger opener. And then sometimes I get tired of lower scores and just try to play strategically - LOL!

Yup, still doing it.

DK :))

I'm still doing it! I always use the same starting word. I just checked the list and it's never been used so there's still a chance I might get a #1! The best I've gotten was 2, I think it happened twice. I also do Connections but none of the other ones.

I use the same starter word until it is guessed correctly in 1, and am currently on my second starter word.

I tend to use the same second and third words to cover as many letters as possible.

DK :))

I’m still playing! I do check the used word list every day. I’ve gotten it in one guess two times, most recently with CLOUDY. I do it with my son and separately with 2 friends. We do Connections and Strands too.
