review your stay after? Recently I noticed a fault with the bed and breakfast dot come website where I usually go for reviews on places to stay.
I really enjoy a bed and breakfast hospitality rather than a hotel sometimes. Espescially when me and FI want to road trip somewhere close and see local sites. This last place we stayed in Ocean City got great reviews... almost every single review was positive. Me and my FI are not the type to complain but when we stayed there our mattress was rock hard, the decor was so old and the bathroom was beyond small. It could have just been the room we picked but notheless we weren't pleased with our stay there. They offered to put a mattress top on our bed which really didnt help and we did fill out the comment card before we left so the owners could hopefully improve the room we were in.
Anyhow, when I went to go review this place online they of course wanted proof of our stay there by giving them a credit card statement of the total of the trip there (blacking out the personal info). I understand wanting to know we indeed did stay there and I have email confirmations but we payed the trip half online and half when we got there so I couldnt provide the full information so my review wont be accepted. Did this ever happen to anyone or has anyone noticed this? Is it like this on tripadvisor dot com too? I never wrote a review there so I dont know. Long story short I realize now there are no negative reviews because it is a hassle to submit all the information and then still need to be accepted by the site that your not just a "disgruntled" person. Whereas if you review the place kindly (which I have done for a few other places) they just accept that freely without any proof of stay. Is this absurd only to me or what?
