I caught a few episodes of the "What Not to Wear" show on TLC. It is really amazing the transformations that can occur. It seems like Stacey & Clinton nearly always suggest a "structured jacket" and basic dark (no fading) boot cut jeans.

I am a TLC addict!!! Watching right now... haha. I love What Not To Wear... my favorite part is that so many people come in saying they have no desire to change, and they''re never going to keep up with it... and then by the end of the show they''re crying and saying they feel so much better about themselves and they''ll never go back. Love it!

I totally am into this show. Yes, they stick to their guns about the structured jacket and non-fading dark wash jeans. I actually agree with them. I personally love the darker rinses in jeans and agree despite one''s body type, you do want a darker rinse so that your legs look your best. I tried on a pair of those jeans with the lighter rinse only in the thigh and butt area and yuck was all I could say! I am not skinny or super tall and those jeans made me look terrible. With the darker rinse, I looked taller, leaner and I felt more confidant with what I have to work with.

The jacket is a critical piece of most people''s wardrobe. If I go for a lined jacket that works with my shape(I am short-waisted and kind of busty), I look much more put together and that gets me feeling better. I have messed up before with unlined, no structure jackets and it is reflected in the way it hangs on me in the mirror.

The key thing is spending a tad more on the basics. If one does invest a little more in quality, fit and tailoring, you can skimp a little in other areas. I still say that if you can find what you are looking for in jeans and not spend big $ on designer ones all the time, do it. No one is going to look at the label, but they will look on how they fit you. That is the key.

I did image consulting for years. Most of us need to learn to first shop in our closets before heading to the mall.

I love the show too. I don''t seek it out, I don''t even know what time it comes on, but usually when I flip through the channels on the weekend, it''s on. In fact, I watched it today while I was on my exercise bike. Too bad I haven''t followed their advice and invested in a structured jacket so I can lock and load. I really have got to save up some money and go on a big shopping spree with all of that advice.

I dont watch it regularly but I do enjoy it when I catch it. Some of the transformations are amazing.

Same here..just catch it occasionally since I don''t even know the schedule. I like the Trading Spaces show, too. My daughter says she is going to send me to the show, and I say GREAT! I''d love to have $5000 to spend on clothes! But I do have a good many "classics" that they''d probably approve of. I just don''t enjoy clothes shopping much anymore!

I watch that show all the time, and love it! The one thing about it that really irks me though, is that they talk about getting things tailored if you are short or tall as if it is not only easy, but affordable and readily available. I look at those clothes and think to myself, after spending all that money on the pants... where do I find the money to get the pants the right length? Hence, jeans with the word "short" next to the size... even though usually they are still too long... oy! Still... fun show! I love the makeup and hair parts best.

Oddly enough, dry cleaners often know of a seemstress, and usually reasonably priced ones too....I''m short, and fat, so most pants have to be hemmed.....

The most important episode to watch, I think, is the bra episode. I sat down with my teenaged daughter and then we both went to a better bra place to be fitted. 40DD is NOT the same as a 36F. A well fitting bra makes blouses, and jackets look and fit much better, and its much easier to breathe. It was funny, in the dressing rooms were some college aged girls, my young teen, me, and some women in their 50s...several of us asked the clerks to throw out the bras we wore into the store because a good fitting bra is just that much more comfortable.

Oh, I love that show when I get a chance to watch it. I so want a Carmandee makeover. She makes everyone look so natural!

I love seeing how the change comes together. It floors me sometimes.

i love the ones where they are so clueless and in the end, it clicks and they just get it! love that.

This show has been on in the UK for quite some time now - about 3 years or so at a guess - hosted by Trinny and Susannah. It is interesting and their advice for the most part is good.

I LOVE this show! I''ve gotten some great tips and Nick and Carmendy always try to give the ladies quick, easy do-at-home styles that they can pull off in 5-10 minutes...very realistic. I still buy some clothing from discount stores but I have learned that if you invest a little bit more in basic mix and match pieces, they will last longer and you can change the look when trends change with inexpensive accessories.

Reader--They had a whole episode on bras? I must have missed that one. I''d love to see what I should wear. I have done the fitting thing at dept stores but I recently lost weight and I thank god my "girls" shrunk too.

Does anyone know if the show is available on DVD? I haven''t been able to find it.
