Wow, I''m really surprised! I thought for sure that everyone would like the Dora best. In person, it seemed to be so flattering and I felt so comfortable. (I will admit I was braless in the gown and there isn''t much up there to begin with, so that''s probably why I looked so flat chested.) My Maid of Honor actually cried because she loved it so much.

After reading all of the responses, I''ve decided to take more photos in the first gown tomorrow. I''ve already paid for the gown. I really can''t see why I shouldn''t be allowed to take a few more photos. I will ask if it is possible to do the sweetheart neckline on my original gown. Although, they might not know, because they don''t have alterations on site. (Thank You Starset Princess for your photoshop skills! I didn''t even consider this!)
Your gown looks lovely with the sweetheart strapless neclkine.

I would recommend taking the dress to a good, well-regarded (by theknot boards and/or weddingwire.com) seamstress. I barely fill the bust of my dress (see pic below), and the bridal shop recommended that I change the straight-line strapless to sweetheart. I really didn''t want to leave it in the hands of the bridal shop''s seamstress since I saw a couple of posts (on theknot boards andweddingwire.com) that people recommended that I NOT use the in-house seamstress.

Both gowns are really pretty, but if you already own the first one I would keep it. I think adding a sweetheart neckline will be totally gorgeous!!

You look gorgeous in both dresses.

Personally, I prefer the Dora because I just happen to prefer that type of dress over the first one, but that''s just personal preference. As for the way YOU look in them, I think you look stunning in both.

Dress #1 is dramatic, and much more formal looking to me than the Dora. The Dora is sweet and laid back.

If you already own the first dress, keep it! You look beautiful.

I have to say I am crazy jealous that you look so incredible in the Dora. I wanted that dress so badly, but it just didn''t work for my body.

I like the first one better... It just seemed more "you".

#1 without any hesitation or tiniest smidge of doubt. It is absolutely stunning and my jaw literally dropped when I saw the detailing on the skirt. Absolutely gorgeous.

#1 is gorgeous, elegant, and eternally classic.
#2 is cute, fun, sweet, and trendy. More casual.

Which are you? Which do you visualize for your wedding? Like you couldn''t carry a bunch of shasta daisies with #1, but could with #2. And an elegant stylized bouquet would not work at all with #2, or would just overpower the dress.

They are both gorgeous dresses, but I think 1 is most flattering and has such beautiful detailing

I think #1 is much more flattering to your figure; makes you look statuesque and has a GREAT line.

I honestly feel that #2 detracts from your figure instead of adding to it.
Ditto!!!

Sweetie, if you think you look like a sausage, I am in trouble. We are going to need a BBQ and a loaf of bread when I get my dress on!

I just saw the sweetheart modification, and it looks fabulous. Gives you a bit more boobage KWIM?

i know! a sausage?! i couldn''t imagine anybody looking less like a sausage. both dresses are beautiful. depends on the type of wedding i think! one would be great for an outdoor spring/summer wedding. the other would be great for a more formal indoor wedding.

oh that''s a toughie.
i think your original gown is beautiful.
however... i''m pretty crazy about the MS Dora gown and I think it is really, really flattering on you..

I''m going to vote for the Dora

Well, these photos will probably only reinforce what all of you have already said, but I said I would post. They don''t know if a sweetheart can be added. I''ll have to take that up with whomever I take the gown to for alterations.

Normal, just standing shot with my beautiful Matron of Honor (that is a reject MOH gown btw.)..

And if i POSE for you...which I did, because it was funny

then all is well. Would it look strange to stand like this the whole wedding day?

Another posed shot. This is the only time I feel the gown looks right. Sorry for the sillyness. I really felt I needed a laugh in the shop. The thought of not liking my wedding gown is stressful. Actually, this whole wedding planning process is stressful.

Note, too, I''m on a platform in this gown.

To be fair, Dora on the platform.
(last one, I promise)

I love your original wedding dress and once it gets altered I think it will be just gorgeous on you! BTW, did they order
it that big for you? It looks like you could have ordered a couple of sizes smaller.

Your dress is just plain too big. It''s going to look like a completely different (in a good way) dress once it fits you properly. I can''t believe they ordered it THAT big!

No, no, no.. please don''t take it that way. I just meant that a sausage has no defined shape. Like this | | that is me. And, I''m not going for sexy bride. I just don''t want to be | | bride.

No, that''s the sample. My dress will be here in about 2 - 3 weeks, in a smaller size. But, because it was clipped, really tight, I''m thinkin this is how it''s going to look. You think it''s going going to be better in my size?

I would wait until you have your dress in hand to make a decision, since it is going to be here so soon. I had that same feeling of uncertainty, and like so many others, when it came and was fitted, those fears disapeared.

For what its worth, I really love the first dress on you.

I was in the same position when i was wedding dress shopping!! grrrr

I am really biased b/c i wore the Dora 2 years ago (when you couldn''t find a picture of it anywhere) but i have to say, i like the dora on you better! I think the sweetheart neckline is so flattering --esp on smaller chested women (i am one of them too). In general i think you have a perfect figure for Dora. A larger women would have trouble pulling it off b/c as you know, there is no place to hide anything in that dress!

BUT

The dress you bought is gorge too!! It is more classic, (but also a bit more boring IMO). You will not look shapeless in it and trying it on in your size will indeed make a difference. I also think that adding a sweetheart would be nice too.

I think what this comes down too is the tone of your wedding and the bridal image you want to portray. I have a bit of a whimsical, girly side to me and then a more sophisticated/serious side . I decided to highlight the more playful side, and went with the Dora over another, more formal dress. I also had a lake-side wedding with some more casual touches, so it fit the venue.

You mentioned the victorian setting. To me, the first dress seems to compliment that tone, but without seeing pictures, etc. i can''t really judge.

Rest assured you will look awesome in whatever you pick! Interested to see how it turns out!

House Cat,

Seeing this picture, your dress is not pulled in the middle below where the clips are. It will be much more fitted to your body, which may be why the Dora appeals to you; it looks much more fitted through the waist, eliminating the "sausage" feeling. When that dress comes in, I think you''ll have a different opinion because someone will be pulling the midsection into your frame. I happen to like both dresses on you, for different reasons. I think they portray different styles; having your hair down adds a modern pazazz to the Dora whereas #1 (pronovias??) has a beautiful elegant style to it. Even though you''re pulling the dress in the earlier photo, it will look a lot more different when it''s actually in your size.

Big ditto! It simply doesn''t fit!

I absolutely LOVE the second one...and I don''t usually post here so you can take my opinion for what it''s worth!

Well - to be honest they are both gorgeous. I like the 2nd better but the 1st is stunning as well. Can you change ur mind?

Well, to change my mind, I would just end up buying two gowns.

But, the response is overwhelming. I think the best thing to do is wait until my original gown comes in and see how it looks in my size. Thanks to everyone for your help!!

The only problem with dress #1 is that it is too big for you! It is absolutely stunning and when it is fit to your body, will be a knockout. The Dora is sweet and girlish, but IMO doesn''t do much for your figure. Dress #1 is a winner
36.gif

My thought looking at your unposed photos of #1 was immediately that there was just too much fabric there. That prevents it, even when pulled in at the back, from hanging properly. When you bend at the waist and push your hip out like you did in your poses, you help the fabric drape like I think it should/will when the dress is actually closer to your size. So much of the design of that dress is about detail placement and drape - two things that REQUIRE a great fit.

IMHO, you''re going to be a KNOCKOUT in #1 when it fits properly. The Dora looks great on you, but to me it says "look at the pretty dress", not "look at this gorgeous woman".
