hey cajunbelle. i think i''ve been to that bridal shop before?

i like the material of the first dress, but i don''t kmow if i like the line that it makes around your legs. was this your first dress shopping trip?

again.

Hands down, the second dress. It flatters you SO BEAUTIFULLY!!! There''s no question!!!

hi jcrow!

hmmm... maybe so. it was a bridal shop in lafayette, louisiana. yeh, it was my first trip. i''m definately not done shopping... but i''d really like some different opinions!!

I agree, the first one looks like a beautiful dress but it''s not so flattering on you. The second one is an equally beautiful dress, but it looks SOOO MUCH better on you!!! You look amazing in it!!!

thanks firegoddess!!

my only hesitation is that the back laces up completely.. it''s actually a two piece gown. and i''m kinda worried about the pickups looking dated in pictures any opinions on that?

LOVE the second dress--- actually tried on a very similar dress that I thought was absolutely gorgeous, but decided to go a different route (not b/c of the pickups, but b/c I am having a beach wedding). I dunno what to tell you about the "dated" thing --- it''s gorgeous and if you love the style, you should have it. What''s important is that YOU are happy with whatever dress you choose! You should feel beautiful on your wedding day (and that 2nd dress style is SO flattering on you!)

ha~! let''s just say i''m a cajun belle myself

i can give you my list of bridal shops if it''ll help. but, i''m sure you''ve got it covered!

Yeah, no to both? unfortunately you''re not part of the small minority that is most flattered by the mermaid look. The torso on the second dress looks SO much better. However, I''m not loving the pick-ups on you and not just because they might look dated. The shape of the bottom half doesn''t really blend with the top. Hopefully not too honest.

I love the second one, especially the top. I think its much more flattering than the first one

def. 2nd!! you look great!!!

I LOVE the first one from the front. I don''t like the "tush" part of it though. Everything else about it is magnificent. The fabric is romantic, the details are regal, elegant, stunning. Anything similar but with a different tush?

I guess I''m the only one that votes for #1 over #2? I have the same fear of buying a "date-able" dress. I honestly think you would look much better without the pickups and a less ball-gowny shape. I think the first dress gives you a beautiful, sweeping, curvy figure.

I''m sorry that I''m not very helpful with this post!!! Hopefully there will be more options on your next trip?

Ok, I just realized there might be another issue with the first. How would you bustle it? I was all set to go look for a similar dress until I thought of the bustle. Hmm...

robbie--- I was going to reccommed that dress too! haha!

I either like the second one or the one Robbie posted. I think that that style is beautiful!

#1 is a gorgeous dress, but it''s not flattering on you. My vote is #2.

#2! You look beautiful in it!

wow all these replies!!!

thanks to everyone for taking the time to offer your opinions!!! i really appreciate them!! my mom is in love with the first dress! i''m a plump, very broad shouldered athlete... and in person dress #1 gave me a very hour-glass type shape. (i have NO waist). Dress #2 photographed very well, however this is VERY shocking because this shape has never been flattering to me before (proms, etc.).

robbie- you know, in the shop, dress #2 wasn''t a maggie!! but it looks exactly like that!! thanks for finding the straight skirt!

I think you can pull off mermaid if you like it. It's not the silhouette that is the problem, but the back view of the first dress just cuts your body off below the butt, and the front view kind of points right there...

Definitely the second one. The first one just doesn''t fit you right.

Also, remember you want your dress to look good both in person and in pictures!

definitely #2!!

Of the two I like #2. I, like Robbie thought that #2 was a Maggie Sottero because my best friend tried on that same dress and it looked fabulous on her! She decided to go another way. And I think in part because of the pickups. But it is a gorgeous dress!

I can''t believe that''s not a maggie! Who''s it by? It looks exactly like one I tried on!

I can't help it; I'm going to be harsh. But first, I'll give you a chance to skip my opinon and move on to the next response....

The bodice on the first dress reminds me of a 40's - 50's corset. Think Vargas girls and pin-up posters. I'm half expecting to see old-fashioned garters peaking out through the tulle!

I love the bodice detail on the second dress... very flattering on you, and very elegant. Pick-up skirts, to me, scream "fairy-tale" wedding which in turn makes me assume that mostly younger brides will be choosing them. Nothing wrong with that, of course... but I do think they will prove to be a fairly short-lived trend.
