One thing I thought of about what you're saying in terms of where the mermaid starts. I tried on a amsale dress with a side brooch. It was longer than the one i have now and I'm pretty 'hippy'. I could not get that thing on for the life of me. My hips were just too wide. So that may have been an issue for me with a dress like the Mila. I'm just not sure. Definitely the higher up point on the liancarlo saved me for sure. I tried on a Judd Wadell though that was somewhat similar in terms of high mermaid that fit well also. I'm not sure if you have bigger hips like I do but if you don't I'm sure it will look great. Trust me I have wide hips! I don't think it's a shorty thing as much as a hip thing.Date: 2/20/2008 12:25:35 AM

Thanks for the pep talk Violet!! I know this thread should be about how gorgeous Haven looks and not about my stupid insecurities but you know how it is. I dont have the dress yet and dont have any pics from the salon unfortunately - I have actually kind of forgotten how it looked on me which is part of them problem! I am 5'2' (but people always say I look taller) and i ordered the dress to be made so that the part where the skirt/mermaid part starts will be 2.5 inches higher. Hopefully that will be enough to keep me from looking too stumpy!
By the way, you look way taller than 5'3' in your pics! I love your Liancarlo and definitely wanted to try it on but then ended up ordering my dress after only going to two salons. I wonder if the Liancarlo would work better for us shorties because the start of the mermaid is higher than it is on the Mila? Anyways, I am being silly - I am really excited about the Mila and I hope it works out.
Sorry for the threadjack Haven!
Also I'm barely 5' 3"! Must be the angle of the camera!
