Thanks for the pep talk Violet!! I know this thread should be about how gorgeous Haven looks and not about my stupid insecurities but you know how it is. I dont have the dress yet and dont have any pics from the salon unfortunately - I have actually kind of forgotten how it looked on me which is part of them problem! I am 5'2' (but people always say I look taller) and i ordered the dress to be made so that the part where the skirt/mermaid part starts will be 2.5 inches higher. Hopefully that will be enough to keep me from looking too stumpy!

By the way, you look way taller than 5'3' in your pics! I love your Liancarlo and definitely wanted to try it on but then ended up ordering my dress after only going to two salons. I wonder if the Liancarlo would work better for us shorties because the start of the mermaid is higher than it is on the Mila? Anyways, I am being silly - I am really excited about the Mila and I hope it works out.

Sorry for the threadjack Haven!
One thing I thought of about what you're saying in terms of where the mermaid starts. I tried on a amsale dress with a side brooch. It was longer than the one i have now and I'm pretty 'hippy'. I could not get that thing on for the life of me. My hips were just too wide. So that may have been an issue for me with a dress like the Mila. I'm just not sure. Definitely the higher up point on the liancarlo saved me for sure. I tried on a Judd Wadell though that was somewhat similar in terms of high mermaid that fit well also. I'm not sure if you have bigger hips like I do but if you don't I'm sure it will look great. Trust me I have wide hips! I don't think it's a shorty thing as much as a hip thing.

Also I'm barely 5' 3"! Must be the angle of the camera!

I actually AM quite hippy! Uh oh...now feeling neurotic and worried...

I will just have to stop thinking about it and wait and see! And go to the gym too!

Er this may seem personal (and I posted another thread titled ''sunnygirl'' if you want to move things there vs keeping them here) but what are your measurements? No need to share if you don''t want to!

Haven --

Are you going to wear heels on your wedding day since you''re taller than your FI? I swore I''d only get 2 1/2 inch heels tops since I''m 5'' 3" and my FI is 5'' 7". I got 3 1/2 though which cuts it a little too close. That plus the veil and hairdo, ouch. I''m hoping he gets some shoes with some height on them. What is your FI planning to do?

I''m picturing me being too tall hunched over like Katie Holmes with Tom Cruise in their wedding photo, haha.

Haven, you are so gorgeous - that dress suits you perfectly. I am really glad it all worked out for you!

Oh my gosh, Sunny, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE DRESS!!!! I''m sure you''re going to look stunning in it, honestly, most brides are not gigantors like me, the dresses HAVE to look good on girls who are 5''3". The Melissa Sweet dresses are made so well, the cut is incredible, that it''s difficult to NOT look good in them, I swear.
I still get a kick out of the fact that we''re dress twins AND we have very similar e-rings. I bet our tastes are very similar.

Violet--I''m going to do a search to see your dress, I can''t wait! And you are so sweet to say such nice things, thank you. Please don''t worry about this buyer''s remorse, I know how it feels--I fell in love, I mean IN LOVE with the Dora when I saw it on Jas13, but it just didn''t work on me. I TRIED to make it work, but it didn''t suit my body and I was heartbroken until I found the Mila, which luckily came only a day later! But seriously, if a dress doesn''t work on you, then it''s not the dress. I can''t wait to see your dress, I''m sure it''s stunning.
And to answer your questions, I AM going to wear heels on my wedding day. Luckily, my FI loves tall women even if they''re taller than him. I told him on our first date that I was not going to throw out my heels for him, and I''ve stuck to my guns. I''m not worried about looking taller, everyone knows I''m taller (even in bare feet) so if I DIDN''T look taller in our pictures it woudl be strange, I think. FI knows what he''s getting in to with me, and he''s completely happy with it.

I also have very good posture, so no slouching like Katie Holmes, no way--that just wouldn''t do your beautiful gown justice!
I don''t know if you were asking me or Sunny for measurements, but the salon told me I''m 37-28-39, which puts me at an 8 or 10 for MS, so they ordered the 10 so it wouldn''t be too tight in the bust. One of my favorite things about this dress is that it doesn''t accentuate my large bust, so I definitely didn''t want anything being pushed out, if you know what I mean.

Harleigh, glamourgirl, Sarah, Dani, Courtneylub, bee*, Gwyn, happy in love, gtn, anchor, keepingthefaith, crownjewel, Lauren, Sparkalicious, Krissie--THANK YOU for all of your kind words. Every single one of your comments brightened my day, and made me feel so wonderfully bride-y.

Gwendolyn--THANK YOU for the vote of confidence, you always make me feel so much better! I''m normally so confident, for some reason I feel like I should be in my best shape for my wedding dress (probably because it costs so darn much!) You''re so sweet, thank you.

Angel--Thank you! It is the store in A. Heights, you''re so astute! They are absolutely wonderful there, I can''t say enough good things about them. I grew up east of A. Heights, but I love the downtown area there so when I saw that they carry Melissa Sweet in an A. Heights store I had to check it out. I''m so glad I did! (LOVE your signature quote, by the way. I''m going to put it up in my classroom, if you don''t mind.)

isaku--Thank you! I have to say, I had never been called an SOB before this thread (well at least not to my face!) but I don''t think it''s a new bridal term, no.

karasue--The whole first dress fiasco did work out in my favor in the end, didn''t it? I do feel very fortunate for the way things happened. Thank you for the veil and jewelry suggestions, I''m going to try some different things out.

Gypsy--You are always SO helpful, thank you for the links! I love the bangle idea, and I''ve never worn chandelier earrings so that would be fun, too!

Thanks again, everyone, I''m going to bookmark this thread to come and visit it whenever I''m feeling in need of some cheering up!

Haven you are positively GLOWING in your fabulous dress. Even in the icky weather. See, your smiles just brought the sun back out as I''m typing this here.

I''m sooooo happy for you, you have no idea!!
