I would have taken pictures of it on, but the dress Nazi was standing next to me the WHOLE time!

Hi HH,

I love that dress!!! Isn''t that your dream dress that you posted before (the model was on the runway or something?)? It''s gorgeous.

We can''t be too surprised about mother''s doing this- my (ex)stepmother wore a whiter than white flowy pant suit (the kind where the pants basically look like a skirt) to my sister''s wedding... It happens more than we''d all like to think I''m sure!
OMG - this is SO funny.....this just happened at my friend''s wedding, too!

Her step-mother wore a flowing white pantsuit!

When we first got engaged. Someone told my MIL she HAD to follow three simple rules.
1. Show up
2. Shut up
3. Wear beige

HH, it''s a gorgeous dress but I want to see YOU in it!

Oh, and thanks for saying that I looked better in that dress.

You looked far and away better in that dress. We saw it at the salon over the weekend and my friend and I had a good reminiscent laugh over it. We giggled, rolled our eyes, said "oy vey" and then thanked our lucky stars that our FMILs knew better! I think I might head out to another place that I know carries the dress. We actually had a mother come up to us and mention that her daughter tried on the same dress at this other place for $1500 cheaper! $1250 is still way out of my budget, but a little easier to swallow. Besides, I think the alterations are going to be minor if I can get it in the size I need. I tried on a 14 in the same line/designer and it was a perfect fit. I just need the length altered a bit since I won''t be in heels for the ceremony.

So ladies, once you have your dress, how do you keep yourself from wearing it all the time? I''m so excited, I want to wear it around the house and to the grocery store at this point!

Oh, and I tried it on with a veil-WOW, I really felt like a bride. It pulled the look together completely. I hadn''t planned on wearing one either, oh well.

Do any of you know if Pearl''s Place carries Paloma Blanca? I just checked House of Brides, and they don''t

What do you think the chances of a size 14 in that dress showing up on ebay are?

That Paloma Blanca dress is gorgeous Hudson Hawk, simple and elegant - lovely!

I wanna see a pic of you in it too!!!!
Have you thought about sneaking a pic in the dressing room? That''s what I''d do! lol.
I think those rules are so silly....it''s like, what''s the point? If you know who the designer is you can find the dress online! You would think those shops would be LOSING money since girls can''t remember what they loved about a certain dress they put on. Oh well.

I was on the hunt for a Paloma Blanca once and I couldn''t find it online anywhere! Unfortunatley I don''t think any online stores can be authorized by PB to carry them. I could be mistaken, but I never did find anyone! Good luck and if you have until ''09 you could just pay if off bit by bit if you really love it! Its a gorgeous dress and PB''s are some of the nicest gowns out there!

Pearls carried them about 15 months ago when I called for a Paloma. Prices were really good. Hudson, I got one of the bridal stores to match Pearl''s price for me, I just called them up, told them I enjoyed their service, but the cost of the gown was too high, and that I''d found it lower someplace else. They matched the price. I don''t remember if alterations were included, but I think they were... so it ended up being a good deal, despite the sales tax. Of course I bought the Rivini sample instead... but I loved the Paloma and the price was very good.

Um...yea, PP quoted me $2500. That''s not much of a savings considering I''d have to pay tax AND ship it to RI!

When I was shopping for dresses, I tried on a few Paloma Blanca''s at RK Bridal. You might want to try calling them and see what kind of price they give you. Also, you shouldn''t ever have to pay sales tax when you are buying something from out of state, I believe. Unless you are talking about RI sales tax. I believe the rule is that if they sell to someone out of state, it isn''t technically a sale in the state the store is located. RK is located in New York too, so shipping would be less to RI than from Louisiana!

I was also going to say that I had set up an automatic search on ebay where I put in my favorite designers, and every day I would get an email from Ebay showing me the new items listed that matched my search. It was so convenient!! You never know when someone is going to post the exact dress you need! I found the partypop.com wedding dress forums another decent place to find people posting dresses they wanted to sell.

Good luck!

How do I set up the daily Ebay update?

ooooh it''s only $1590 at RK bridal!

How do I set up the daily Ebay update?
When I just search for Paloma Blanca on Ebay, when the results come up there is a little blue link that says "Save this Search". When you click on that, a box pops up and you can choose how long you want them to email you with the results of your search. I wouldn''t include the size in your search just because people list the sizes differently, sometimes they list by what street size they are, sometimes they list by what size the dress tag actually says.....this way you won''t miss any!

Yay I''m glad RK had it for less!! Some of those places will price match and take an additional 5% off or something. Maybe if you go to that other store that you heard they had it for $1250 and then call RK back they might match it! I think I might even call back Pearl''s Place and tell them RK gave you such a lower price, they are both very reputable brick-and-mortar stores with a lot of internet sales, from what I hear. It''s such a game, wedding dress shopping...ugh! But still the funnest clothes shopping I''ll ever do!

Okay, did the search thing. That''s cool, I hope someone posts it.

HH- I live in Cincinnati where we have an actual Bridal District....it''s awesome... but yeah, a little um, scary. The whole freaking town is nothing but bridal shops, caterers, florists, etc..... anyway, BRIDAL AND FORMAL is located there and is the largest bridal store in the country! They have everything and at totally amazing prices. I decided what the hell and went thinking they would be off the charts (price wise) but the Lazaro dress that I had my eye on was quoted $980 CHEAPER at B&F than the other 3 previous shops I had been to! They defintely carry the designer you''re looking for....they can get the dress in if for some reason they don''t have it (they have THOUSANDS of dresses. I''m not kidding) While their dresses were completely reasonable their accessories (including veils) were ridiculous. Here''s the website www.bridalinformalinc.com (513) 821-6622 Can''t hurt to check it out. You can really try to talk your price down too. Good Luck!

Wow, thanks! I''m definitely going to check it out. So far the cheapest I''ve found it for is $1590 at RK Bridal in NY, but that''s still a smidge too high, especially if I end up needing alterations. LOL, for a while I thought I was going to be a $100 dress bride. So much for that!
