Ok I''m back.

Thank you for smacking some sense into me because I found a dress that I LOVED LOVED LOVED. Unfortunately I could not take any photos of it.

It''s the maggie sottero vonda dress.

I love this one too! Cant wait to see how it looks on you!!!

So glad you found a new dress you like better! I agreed those other dresses just weren't IT. But the new dress looks like it will define all the right places! I cannot wait to see pictures!

Wooo! I''m so glad you found a dress you love!

Sorry I was offline this weekend--I missed all the fun.

Honey you have a lovely figure and these dresses are going less than nothing for you. Emphatically NEITHER.

Why don't you give us an idea of budget, your tastes and details about your wedding and let's see if we can find you some suggestions. \

ETA: I'm so happy you found something nice that suits you.

I am glad I read the whole thread before answering. I was going to have to be honest about the first two dresses and I hate being honest sometimes

The Maggie is just gorgeous!! I tried it on myself and really loved it. If I had have been going for that look, I think I would have got that one.

Can''t wait to see pics of you in it

Such a relief you got something you love.

Hahaha, I want pics of you in the Maggie, and then cuddling the Maggie, please.

So so so happy you found a dress you adore!! You will look gorgeous!

PS: Honey, you ARE thin.

Yeah!! The Maggie is gorgeous!

I can''t imagine them having trouble getting it before your October wedding. Honestly, you should be fine as long as you order soon!

Ehh... they just called, they can''t get it.

Even with a rush for 100 bucks, it still is only arriving 1-2 weeks before the wedding which leaves hardly any time for alterations.

I don''t know what to do.

I love the dress, but not sure what my next step is. The sample size is an 8, which would be a tight squeeze. I''m not sure how easy it is to let a dress out a whole size/

Oh crap! What about other salons? Might they have a larger sample? Otherwise, do they have a seamstress onsite? They could ask to see if it could be altered.

Yeah I''m going to check another one tonight to see if they have a bigger sample. 8 is a small sample!!

They do have a seamstress, I''m just worried that I"ll buy the dress, they''ll say they can alter it, and they can''t get it the right size and then I''m screwed with a dress that won''t fit. Is that crazy? Maybe I''m being paranoid.

Elle, I am so sorry!

Here are a few I found from Casablanca that are kinda similar to the Maggie.
1961
1947
1925
I don''t know if any of these help, but Casablanca makes their dresses custom so I believe they already come fitted, hemmed and such.

I''d say it''s legitimate paranoia. But where was it too small? Hips? Bust? You could also look for it on preownedweddingdresses.com.

Ohh those are so pretty!

But I have a feeling that they''d take even longer to get. I only have 4 months... and counting...

Checked POWD... nothing.

I got it on... I mean they closed it, but the corset was too far apart, yanno? It *looked* like it didnt quite fit from the back. The corset shouldn''t be hanging on for dear life.

I wish I could take some pictures to show you. I hate the no photo policy. Maybe it fit better than I rememeber?

I''m sorry you''re having trouble. You must travel to other stores. I agree with the other ladies, my initial response was going to be "neither?"
If you''re a size 10, there has to be other stores with samples...

Bummer.

I know what you mean.

If you''re not 1000% set on this dress, perhaps it''s time to start stalking sample sales?

What brands do the stores carry around you? We can search similar styles.

I agree. Size 10 is easy to get to with sample dresses.. they''re all about that size anyway. And if I could think rationally about this, I''d probably not freeze from anxiety everytime a dress doesn''t work out.

The "rushed" feeling of finding a dress is kind of overwhelming me right now.

I''m so sorry Elle

Are there any big cities close enough to you where you can go to bridal shops?

Call all of the bridal shops in town to see if they have a bigger sample. Usually samples run in size 10 - 12. The other thing that I know maggie sottero does is they allow a bridal shop to special order a gown for try on for $50 (the $50 gets applied to the price of the gown if you order it.) Then maybe you can persuade the bridal shop to allow you to buy it?

Also, try to call RK bridal and Pearl''s place, see if they can get the gown for you in a more timely manner.

Someone has got to have that sample for you!

Yeah. I am kinda bummed.

The place I''m going to tonight doesn''t list their designers on their website, unfortunately. I know they carry Maggie Sottero since the MS website lists them as an authorized seller.

I''ll have to see if any around me list their designers...

Do you know what season the dress is from?

Also, a salon should be able to tell from the seam allowance on the gown how easy it might be to make it fit you. Thats what they would look at before telling your yes or no about making it fit you.

Good luck finding this in your size.

I realy hope you find it, because it is GORGEOUS!

I don''t know anything about dresses/sewing...whatever.

So, I did ask the girl helping me if the size 8 could be let out sufficiently to make room for all of me. She said yes, but... didn''t *really* look. Can you tell just by glancing? Or would it be a more involved inspection?

Elle,

I just wanted to post this Lea Ann Belter dress from POW for you take a look at because I love it and it kind of reminded me of your style. There''s one on there in size 12 and size 8.

Here are the links:

Wow, lucy!

That dress is gorgeous, and extremely similar. Unfortunately it''s out of my price range. I need to keep the dress under 1000.

Good eye, though!

I swear I wish I could just take PSers wedding dress shopping with me. Life would be much easier.

Elle, I found a few more at David''s Bridal that may work.

If the pieces come up in color, you can change them. I figured these places may be easiest in the interest of time.

elle,

You might give Pearl''s Place a call and see how fast they can get a Maggie Sottero Vonda in your size. I heard a lot of great things about them when I was shopping for my wedding dress (granted, this was in ''06 and ''07) and their website says that rush weddings are a specialty.

If all else fails, these dresses (similar to the Vonda) are available for immediate delivery (3 weeks or less) and available in a size 10. What do you think?

Watters 6033B

Watters 9053B

Good luck!

That first Watters is WOW!
