Hi All,

I have been lurking around this forum and finally decided to join and get some help. I am getting engaged soon so looking for a nice ring for my fiance to be.

So, my situation is that I have only $2000 to spend on my engagement ring and I am looking to get the best I can in that. I know its quite low :( .I looked at quite a few vendors that are recommended here. So far, there are some halo style pre set rings that have caught my eye and some of them are in my budget. I am in Canada (Ontario) so also taking into account the exchange rate difference and tax (13%).

Any advice on what can I do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1800 USD, halo.

So is a halo what you're looking for or are you drawn to those as they are preset??

do you think your situation could change? Because you could get a beautiful band for that budget and upgrade to an ering later on. Or, if you're ok with a 1/2 carat, that's possible to do within your budget.

Examples for both:

Solitaire in a simple setting:

Band option:

I am mostly looking at halo or pave type settings. I know she likes the ones that are a bit flashy lol. So I think any setting other than solitaire would do.

Thanks

any shape or just round?

I guess I am a little drawn to them as they are preset plus they look nice too.

I prefer round but cushion and radiant are nice too.

hmm, not any of the shapes you listed so may not work, I looked into this but it fell though as I purchased some colored stones that happened my way instead....

aaanyways... I think this is a nice aset for a step cut. and the price.

Id put it in this setting, though i would add millgraining (they do that for free) and id seriously consider setting it e/w (sideways vs normal up and down) . Though that may be too out of the ordinary for your GF

Are you willing to go second hand?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231227816372 I'd buy this. No one has been bidding on it. So You can probably get it for under budget. Very nice classic three stone platinum ring at a very good price.

Alternately, ask for pics of this stone. I think it has promise: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141133137316?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 The seller is a good one.

That one's new too......

Ohhh I love that Niel!
