Earrings to wear w/ my wedding dress?

Ok, so I was browsing in Stardust Antiques the other day & found this necklace. It''s very similar to my neckace in that both are WG bezel set pendants on a 16" chain, but this one kind of matches my e-ring with its octagonal halo. It has a 10 point diamond in it (I don''t have any specs on it) & is $240. Do you guys like it?

So, now I''m thinking either I should go w/ my necklace & the earrings Widget posted or this new necklace (perhaps as a wedding gift?

) & my WG drop earrings. Which option do you think would look better w/ my dress? The vintage-looking set would be more subtle & delicate & less blingy. Would the modern lines of my existing necklace compliment my dress better? Also, would it be silly to have 2 necklaces which are so similar?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Option 1: current necklace & fakey earring drops

Brightspot: Although it seems your mind is made up not to wear a tiara due to the daytime situation, I feel it is my duty to tell you that I had a 12:30 p.m. outdoor ceremony on a Sunday in Chicago and wore one, with small chandelier earrings that matched, without a necklace. I don''t have any pics to post, but I got nothing but compliments! I also didn''t wear a veil and had my hair up, and my dress was similar to yours as far as simplicity (it was a spaghetti-strapped a-line style with a removable chapel-length train). I may not be the authority on these things, but I do have a BS in textiles, apparel and merchandising...for what it''s worth, my opinion is that if you want to wear a tiara on your wedding day, nothing should stop you! Remember, you will be the one reminiscing over your pictures for the rest of your life and you should be truly happy about how you looked and felt on that day--forget about what''s "traditional." Do you really thing anyone will say "OMG, can you believe Brightspot wore a tiara in the middle of the day?! Horrors!"

Two years ago when I was planning my wedding, a summer issue of Modern Bride had a beach wedding story advertised on the cover...the model was on the beach with a tiara made of crystals, starfish, and shells...what do you think of that? Also, your dress has enough embellishment on the bodice to carry off a sparkly tiara atop your pretty head! Just some food for thought, sometimes we get a little too much guidance from the etiquette patrol. Best of luck!

Oh, monarch, thanks so much for your post! I have to say, you wouldn't have to twist my arm too much to convince me it's ok for me to wear a tiara at my wedding...

While I do think my friend might be right that a tiara is a bit much for a daytime wedding on the beach, it just seems to me that a tiara would do a better job of complimenting the sparkly beading on the bodice of my dress than a flower in my hair would. (Of course, some might say that a sparkly dress is too much for daytime too, but there's no going back for me now!

It's funny...I've been joking about my wedding tiara w/ my FI for so long (about how I'm going to wear it around the apartment afterwards, etc.) that I think he might be a bit disappointed if I didn't wear one. (I know I would be...) He also talked about the wedding of a friend of ours...."It wasn't in the evening (it was) and she wore a tiara..."

I've been eyeing these tiaras on eBay for a while & wonder if they might look nice w/ my dress. I guess they're sort of casual as tiaras go? (if there really is such a thing...

A tiara at the beach in Negril?
If it's what you've been dreaming of go for it.

Scintillating...

Okay,
Ha ha ha ha...casual tiara! I like that.
Brightspot...you can pull it off! Soon EVERYONE will be doing it!! Do what makes you happy!
Then you can wear your casual tiara with jeans and a sweat shirt.
(tee hee hee)
You have spectacular taste. You should go for it.

LOL--don''t think for a second that I won''t!

Ok, guys, yeah, I admit, I always wanted to wear a tiara, but by the same token, I don''t want to look ridiculous & out of place at my wedding. Or maybe I''ll be too happy & bouncy w/ all of my sparkles & my boy to care...

Do you guys like any of the tiaras I posted above? Also, how would this affect my jewelry choice? If I wear a tiara, should I ditch/scale back earrings and/or necklace?

Brightspot, I absolutely love the first and second tiaras! The one with the blue in it is just gorgeous, and it would incorporate the blue you were wanting. Are you wearing a veil, btw? If you were thinking about one, i would say the tiara would be too much. Otherwise, I really do think you can pull it off, and it sounds like what YOU really want is to wear a tiara on your big day. After all, how many times in life does a regular gal get to wear a tiara?

Yup, that''s exactly what I was thinking!

I like that it has blue accents & some clear sparlies too, to match my dress. And it''s kind of like wearing flowers in my hair....sparkly flowers!

The second tiara comes in all blue as well, (pic below) but I like the mix of blue & clear.

No, I''m not planning to wear a veil. I guess this is why I wanted to wear something special in my hair.

That''s true. I can only count 6 or 7....

Thanks for your input! How would wearing a tiara affect my jewelery choices?

I think if you''re going to go with a tiara, stud earrings might be a better choice, your pendant should be just fine.

BrightSpot--I think this is your answer...if you''ll be disappointed if you DON''T wear one, then absolutely DO IT! You shouldn''t have ANY regrets about your wedding. And you are the princess, you HAVE to wear it!

I like all the styles you posted. Can you try on a few at a bridal shop and post some pictures of how you''d wear it with your hair?

These are from Ross-Simons. 300$

Oh,
Matatora! Those are beautiful! If we weren''t saving EVERYTHING to buy our wedding rings...

Brightspot,
I highly doubt that you would look ridiculous or out of place at your own weddding.
Here''s the deal, the tiara is very much like sparkly flowers AND you can keep it forever! It will never wilt!

Diamonds and tiara on the beech? Sure! That''s precisely where they belong. You go girl!

That will be your cool wedding, not some formal tea party.

If you are more conservative than I am, there are plenty of modern wedding tiara designs so fit to casual wear you may well start a trend (unless already there).

in case ''informal tiara'' sounds like an oximoron, here''s a sample of what I mean:

These double as necklaces and are made from silver and bimetal leaves by Jamie Cassavoy.

There''s allot more along those lines.

Perhaps this sonds pretty crazy, but the one to the left looks like it could be filled with some small flower budds between the gold and silver leaves. As a disclaimer, these designs would very much fit in with the local wedding folclore having something to do with leaves of precious metals, and I am sure that bias is strong enough to ovverride at least part of my restraint.

I love you guys!!

Thanks for cheering me on in my crazy quest for sparkles everywhere! (fingers, neck, ears...hair!)

Tybee, I definitely like the idea of keeping the "sparkly flowers" forever. No wilting here!

Valeria, those "casual" tiaras (hee hee) are just beautiful! The gold & silver laurel leaf one reminds me of something a Greek goddess might wear. That''s great that they can double as necklaces later on too.

And Matatora, those diamond & aquamarine earrings are just to die for!

I''m just drooling all over my keyboard here!

I''m having so much fun following this thread! Brightspot...howEVER are you going to decide?

I for one LOVE the tiara idea. So what if you''re on the beach! Go for it!!

So you really think a tiara would be appropriate for the beach? I think you guys may have me convinced...
9.gif
(that sure didn''t take much!)

Yup, I really think the tiara''s appropriate for the beach. If you want to have a less formal look for the beach you could wear your hair down in big loose waves (your hair would probably fall into place perfectly like that...I''m thinking Jennifer Aniston''s wedding hair...) with the tiara.

Oh do a trial run and post pics and we''ll help you!!!!
