(Not to distract from the wild fires but)Do you think they are mostly fake?

NO

No, they aren't fake....but the greatest majority of them are average to poorly cut.

Having said that, there are a few vendors who do sell nice diamonds, but they are the exception, not the rule.

Just wondering because some of them are very inexpensive and on the feed back sections most people seem pleased.

I think the feedback is fake, even if the gems aren't.

No I think people are just dumb, to put it very frankly. The general public on average are not the brightest bulbs...hence the whole giddy excitement over 1ctw solitaire engagement rings for $999 when they see the ads. Believe it or not, us here on Pscope are probably something like .0010% of the population who is the market for diamonds and decide to actually see if they can do some research before plunking down their funds...and people don't realize that your local maul jeweler or Baily Banks or Zales or Helzberg etc is most likely selling you a really nice piece of crap for a really low price.

The whole adage 'you get what you pay for' takes on new meaning when you talk about jewelry. Frozen spit 1ctw for $999 or excellently cut superideal 1ct for $6999. In general, without alot of knowledge--what do you think the average joe on a budget would choose? And not even ask for any additional paperwork (Wow it was certified by IGI lab in east timbuktu. That's awesome!)

Ignorance is bliss...if most people knew what they were really buying...whew!

Yeah Mara,

Recently the fiance was at work and her friend was just raving at "the deal" her fiance got when he bought her ring at wal-mart. They have such great deals.

I didn't have the heart to say anything but the diamond was faint yellow and had some dark inclusions...I'm guessing k-l and I1...for only $1999.00...

She was so happy it was "Big" though...

I guess size speaks volumes with some women.......Lol

There is a vendor on eBay called Diamondd By Lauren who is excellent. I have had personal experience with him and his stuff is the real deal.

He offers very personalized service and he is probably one of the few legit guys on there. Other than him, I'd be leary. I am not a gemologist but I have been collecting and studying diamond jewelry for years and most of what's on eBay looks like junk or is just plain fishy.

Good luck.
