Glad it all worked out for you. Please share pictures when the ring is done. I'm sure it will be beautiful.

Sorry for being harsh before. Didnt realize it was your dad :(

glad everything is going to work out!

Thanks @momofive ! I was just reading your post before I posted this one. How's your progress going ? Sounds like we are looking into very similar rings!

Btw we were going to do LG initially as well and saw some amazing ones. We ended up doing natural to involve the family connection.

I started out with earth mined and felt it was getting into the stratosphere. Had a discussion on here about Lab vs. Earth mined and the consensus seems to circle around whether a person can be "mind clean" about a LGD. Once I did research into the LGDs and that they are exactly like EGDs except for the process. My logical self, decided I had no problem with the "mind clean". I decided to go with the Jann Paul diamond because, I frankly fell in love with their cuts - which is the most important thing about any diamond, IMHO. I learned that you don't have to worry about their diamonds because they value their reputation enough that they would not sell an inferior stone. They now have the GCAL 8x certification for their rounds and ECs. and even though I'm paying a premium for the stone, I am confident that the quality will be outstanding. My husband likes that as well (and he's glad I am no longer traveling into NYC to go look at stones. I'm hoping to get a pair of Jann Paul's decagon diamond studs out of the deal as well, but I'm focused on the ring for now. Thanks for asking.

I just finished reading the rest of your post. I'm glad it worked out. I feel bad for your Dad, because I know his heart was in the right place, but in the diamond world, it's good to get other's opinions. Sometimes, even in these forums, people will respectfully disagree with someone's assessment, but in the end, the if you listen to the advice and make an informed decision, the result is beautiful! Good luck. Can't wait to see the finished photos.

What a great story you have! The ring is going to be killer.
You can't send us enough photos, we all love this.

I’m super excited for you! My original ering had a 2.8 ct emerald cut which I just reset with traps. Can’t wait to see your finished ring!

Does anyone have any advice for what to tell the family member to let them down ? I already told them the Diamond doesn't seem nearly as Alive and they told me ... it's worth more, it's from a reputable dealer and that dealer wouldn't show me dull diamonds , it has bigger dimensions, etc

My gf and I love dealer 2 Diamond but my gf would be ok to settle for 1 to keep the family connection. Once it's set with the 2 traps will the difference in Diamond quality be as apparent ? I don't want us to look at it in future and be a little disappointed. Ultimately it's about us and she says she'll be happy either way and she's very family oriented... but Diamond 2 blew us away enough that even she said it was undeniably nicer and would go with it if my family was cool with that.

Thanks

You are trying to talk yourself into it. I think you and gf will regret it if you succumb to pressure and buy a diamond you don’t like. Please resist!

Edit - I wrote before I saw the rest. Glad it worked out!
