I am buying the diamond and setting seperate. I have think I have narrowed it down to the two following Diamonds. I would like your opinion on them. Both are GIA certified.

First Choice is:

Shape: Round
Carat Size: 0.80carats
Color: F
Clarity: VVS1
Cut: Excellent
Details
Depth: 62.2%
Table: 58.0%
Girdle: MEDIUM to MEDIUM
Culet: NONE
Polish: EXELLENT
Symmetry: EXELLENT
Flourescence: NONE
Measurements: 5.95-5.97x3.71mm

Price: $4,762

Second Choice:

Shape: Round
Carat Size: .82
Color: E
Clarity: VVS1
Cut: Excellent/Ideal
Details
Depth: 61.2
Table: 56
Girdle: Thin to Medium
Culet: None
Polish: Exellent
Symmetry: Exellent
Flouresecense: medium blue
Measurements: 6.07 x 6.06 x 3.71 mm

Price: $4,460

If you do not like either of them give me another option. The only thing is we can not go lower than VVS1 or F color. She wants it around .8 carats because it is around the size that her sister has. I appreciate any help you can offer.

One more question how can we be sure that the online source we are using is legit? I checked with the BBB and was wondering what other source there is out there?

Could you find out the crown and pavillion angle for your 2nd choice?

Once you have the angles, you can input them into HCA chart link here

https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca/

This is a selection tool only, anything less than 2 can be taken into consideration as it has the chance that it might have good light performance.

ditto, post c/p/lgf for both stones - or the GIA numbers.

GIA does not give an ideal grade, where is that coming from?

Out of curiosity - why can you not go below VVS? Is this a personal preference?

Yeah the VVS1 is Her personal pref. I would not mind stepping down a little but she will not have it.

As for Ideal. I just copy pasted from their website.

GIA for Diamond number 1 is 6117917145

Trying to contact vendor for info on #2

ah, I see. Well mind-clean is mind-clean and nothing less will do :))

Still need crown, pavilion, and lower girdle facet info - can get this from the proportions chart on the cert, or from the online report check if you have the report#

GIA cert number on Diamond number 2 is 1126468660.

the lady wants what the lady wants. If she wants a specific color or clarity then you should 100% stick to that.

I'd go #2 as well. HCA is 4.8 on the first one.

Ditto on #2, numbers look good, safer proportions. Could you ask the vendor for ID and aset images?

Thank you all for the advice so far. Guess I will look at some more Diamonds. I will be back!

Aw. You don't like #2? Ask for a photo of #2, maybe it will call to you??

#2 is higher color and will look even higher than an E when the flour is activated! (maybe, but I think a little flour is cool...)

Another vote for #2.

Another one on #2

Numbers look promising.

Actually on a second look I don't like either. With around $5K budget you can get a much better diamond especially if you are looking for a .8ct. Take a look at these two:

Beyond VS grade, unless she takes out a loupe to examine the diamond very very closely, she won't see anything, and she won't see anything with naked eye either. VVS2 and VVS1 is indistinguishable by naked eye. Sometimes we stick to things only to regret it later when we learn more about it, I'd talk to her and let her make an informed decision. Perhaps she never saw a VVS diamond next to a VS one, wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Lastly, what is your budget?

I am very curious to see the effect of medium white fluorescence, does it make the colorless E stone look even whiter???
