Engagement Ring Recommendations

Have you read through suggestions that have already been made in this thread? Do you think she would value the size of the stone over L color in a round brilliant diamond?

So we went and tried them on the store. And she was the one that decided on J,K,L is what she wanted bc we are going to a good setting that I will work on after we get the diamond.

So everything that’s been mentioned has already been ran by her. She does want size. 1.8-2k is what we kind of decided on.

Modern or old cut?

Modern. So attached to this will be some examples of what we saw in person a few months back. Also is a diamond that was shown to me in store recently.

So I’m looking for the best diamond possible with. Round 1.8-2k. J,K,L. SI1 or VS2. Diamond price preferably under 9,000-10,000 if possible

In order to get a well cut diamond, I think you are going to have to drop your size requirement or up your price a bit. The diamonds you show pictures of do not appear to be well cut. Color and clarity are secondary to cut if you want the diamond to have lots of life and sparkle. I looked at Whiteflash and James Allen and don’t see anything with your preferred specs and size for 9 or 10k. I can’t in good conscience recommend something that doesn’t have a great make - I believe in cut that much. Maybe some other posters will have better luck. An L color, SI diamond that is not well cut will just not perform well at all in my opinion. Prices are high now and selection is rather limited so that doesn’t help the cause.

Well what would you recommend for the 9k. 10k price you can come down on size a little if needed

Do any of these appeal to you? You could have Whiteflash do a lineup so you can see them together for comparison.

This is over budget, but hits your two carat mark.
Cheaper, just under at 1.8

@MamaBear has listed the same ones I would have recommended. We all understand budget constraints but you also want to put something on her finger that you both will be proud of for years to come!

Found these options to consider over at James Allen...

This is a ring that someone I know recommended to me in a store. Please give me feedback. Please do understand my circumstances when providing feedback my price range and budget constraints. Thank you so much in advance.

it sounds like you know what you want. if your eyes liked it in person, than i think that's your choice! the most important thing is you and your intended love it. congrats on the upcoming engagement. i'm sure she will appreciate all the thought you've put into the search.

Does the GIA report look like it’s a good ring? Looking for a second opinion!

it's not a stone i would choose for myself. you have many suggestions for better performing stones in the thread. id suggest taking another look at them. that's just MY opinion. what matters most is yours and your future fiance.

I agree. If you do buy the stone I would try to make sure that if there is an upgrade policy, that you get it in writing. If she no longer wants the stone at a later date, this is going to be more of a difficult stone to move on the secondary market. It can be very hard to sell a diamond anyway, but I think your pool of buyers would be limited.

It's a really warm stone; idk if your fiancee would be ok with a stone that warm. Also I cannot make out what the symbols are on the clarity plot but if those are feathers it would be a definite no for me.

Wisps towards the middle and feathers out at the girdle, primarily.

It wouldn't be for me either but that may not be your answer. I understand you are trying to stretch your budget for size and are willing to go to L/SI1. It is just not the best cut stone and that is the most important factor for me. Have you ruled out the diamonds already recommended to you? Is it the size factor that makes the difference?

Neither... proportions and optics are off.
If this one is in the budget, I strongly suggest that it be considered:

Check this one out - it's a little over budget but this is a lifetime purchase, and you *can* find jewelers who will set for around $1,000 making it only slightly over - I think this stone is the best shown in this thread

actually, ritani's settings are only in the Hundreds for a solitaire setting!
